Kapamilya actor Richard Gutierrez has consistently proven himself as one of the best-performing actors when it comes to action-packed productions, as evidenced by his riveting portrayals of the intriguing characters in “La Luna Sangre,” “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” “The Iron Heart,” and finally, “Blood vs Duty.”
To become the outstanding agent Marcus Reyes in Task Force Alpha is not an easy task, considering all the combat training and workshops that Richard successfully completed. But it undoubtedly gave him the ability to create unforgettable action scenes in which his character carried on fighting for the truth.
Marcus effortlessly takes down Peklat’s group
In the intensely engaging pilot episode of “Blood vs Duty,” Task Force Alpha’s duties were immediately laid out for viewers, particularly with the team investigating the proliferation of illegal firearms all over the country.
At a local fish port, Marcus and his members disguised themselves as part of the crowd in order to take down a syndicate commanded by Peklat (Ian Ignacio). While fighting, Marcus skillfully wiped out Peklat’s accomplices, even using just his hands to take control of the larger weapons used by their foes.
Marcus’ incredible motorcycle leap
At the end of the first episode, Marcus chased after the fleeing Peklat, even pulling off a spectacular motorcycle jump along the way. When Marcus was finally near him, Peklat grabbed a child as his own hostage, but Marcus smartly utilized a mirror to momentarily blind Peklat and take him into custody.
Marcus faces off with Oliver’s murderer
Following the massacre at Isla Damai, the recuperating Oliver (Geoff Eigenmann) made a promise to provide testimony regarding Marcus’ statement about their compromised mission. Soon enough, Marcus realized that Oliver's life was in danger and hurried to the hospital to check on him.
Marcus rushed in too late since Oliver was ruthlessly stabbed to death, but he remained determined to go after the masked killer, who was later revealed as Felix (Baron Geisler).
Marcus and Jalil chase Datu Rahman’s abductors
During the course of Datu Rahman’s (Jaime Fabregas) transfer to a different facility, his son Jalil (Gerald Anderson) made an attempt to retrieve him, but then unidentified men took off with the Datu inside of their black van.
Although he was given a suspension, Marcus nevertheless tracked down Datu Rahman’s abductors and struck several of them using only a handgun against the more powerful weapons. Outnumbered and insufficiently armed, the van sped away, leaving Marcus to cross paths with the familiar Jalil.
Marcus uncovers the path to Datu Rahman’s hidden location
With no one he could deem as his ally except for Usman (Ejay Falcon), Marcus returned to inspecting the ZylveriX building alone, suspecting that there was still a specific area that was not checked during the search conducted with Director Azuelo (Rommel Padilla).
He quietly spotted one of Lara’s (Bela Padilla) henchmen securing the supposedly defunct elevator doors, which in fact led to the secret basement containing Datu Rahman. Understanding the situation, Marcus startled the man with a swift attack before commanding him to disclose the Datu’s whereabouts.
Marcus overpowers an intimidating fighter
On the turbulent day when Task Force Alpha received orders to apprehend the notorious and destructive Metal 13, S. Trinidad Hospital and the people inside were held hostage. Among those being held captive were Marcus’ mother, Teresa (Susan Africa), and Jalil’s younger sister, Jamilah (Barbie Imperial).
As they began the rescue operation and carefully eliminated some of the aggressive Metal 13 members, Marcus encountered a threatening individual, who was quite larger in stature than him. Although he struggled for some time, getting thrown towards the wall with great force, he made use of his helmet to defend himself, striking the man strongly and repeatedly to the point of unconsciousness.
Marcus and Jamilah team up against Metal 13’s Jovi
After dealing with the hostage situation, Marcus and Jalil battled Metal 13’s leaders, Axl (Marc Abaya) and Jovi (Joem Bascon). In an effort to save Jamilah, Marcus fought Jovi barehanded, yet Jovi grabbed a gun and pointed it directly at Marcus.
At the right moment, Jamilah stabbed Jovi’s arm with her scalpel, and Marcus took this chance to retrieve the firearm and overpower Jovi.
Marcus defeats a criminal group on his own
Straight after his secret investigation at Isla Damai, where he learned of Datu Rahman’s innocence involving the smuggled firearms and finally reunited with the traumatized Harold (Elmo Magalona), Marcus ran into another criminal group at the port who were transporting more illegal weapons.
He was captured for just a few minutes before eventually knocking out the entire group with his brute strength and lethal kicks. Additionally, he was able to shield himself from swinging knives and a sharp sword due to his quick reflexes and using hollow blocks to hit his enemies.
Marcus blows up smuggled weapons
Despite arriving without any weapons, Marcus emerged victorious, eventually making the choice to set the weapons on fire. During this particular action, he became more enraged since he also remembered how the persistent corruption that existed within NLEA exacerbated the trafficking of illegal weapons.
Marcus maneuvers a motorcycle as he eliminates Ahmad’s pursuers
General Carillo (Bodjie Pascua) and General Solares (Eric Fructuoso) conspired to eliminate the Presidential Chief of Staff Ahmad Mustapha (Robin Padilla) for good, as they feared that he would be the one to expose their evil plans of destabilizing the country.
When they realized that Ahmad’s life is in extreme danger, both Marcus and Jalil rushed to protect Ahmad’s vehicle. As they rode their motorcycles, Marcus expertly defeated several gunmen who were surrounding them.
