As “Everybody, Sing!” host Vice Ganda energized the Songbayanang Maglolo at Maglola in preparation for the community singing game show’s “LipSing” round, a humorous interaction unfolded between Vice and an elderly male contestant named Pedring.
The energetic contestant was accompanied by his grandson, Mon, who shared that he loves his grandfather just as much as he loves his parents. The Unkabogable host later matched Tatay Pedring’s infectious energy with an entertaining celebratory dance.
After Tatay Pedring showcased his charismatic dance moves on set, a staff member offered him a bottle of water. The grandfather jokingly responded, “Ayoko ng tubig!” (“I don’t want water!”), adding to the fun and memorable moment.
What started as playful banter between Vice and Tatay Pedring quickly turned into a heartfelt moment. The elderly player shared that he often feels lonely at night, as he now lives alone following the death of his wife more than a year ago.
The Asia’s Unkabogable Superstar then recalled a story about her own grandfather, who once went to La Union after feeling neglected and uncared for by Vice. Leaving behind only a note, Vice took a leave from “It’s Showtime” and followed her grandfather to La Union to apologize.
Feeling emotional as she looked back on the memory, Vice thanked Tatay Pedring, saying, “Ako’y nagpapasalamat sa’yo dahil pinapayagan mo akong biruin kita, hawakan kita, akbayan kita, at yakapin kita kasi hindi ko nga nagagawa na ‘yan.”
As the interview came to a close, Vice reminded Mon to always make time for his grandfather.
