Following her distressing discussion with Gen. Carillo (Bodjie Pascua), Lara (Bela Padilla) returns to her car and mournfully gazes at her old family photo with her departed parents.
As it turns out, Lara’s mother and father were doctors leading medical missions in rural areas, especially small barangays. She was then left alone at a tent to play while her parents became busy interacting with the residents and patients.
In a split second, masked men arrive and started throwing bombs and shooting everyone in sight. Once the chaos subsided, the frightened little Lara looked around and saw the dead bodies of her parents, with an armed Muslim man holding her mother’s hand.
Upon seeing the shocked man, Lara called him out, and he immediately escaped. Seconds later, Lara gets abducted by the masked men and was relocated to an abandoned place alongside the orphaned children of the massacred residents.
Aside from plans of child trafficking, the other kids would be sent to sardine factories as workers. Despite her fear, Lara managed to fight back but was unfortunately punished with her hair cruelly shaved.
One early morning, she attempted to stealthily escape but was discovered by one of her captors. On the same day, policemen showed up to rescue the children, including a young Major Carillo who promised to take care of her.
