He may not have taken home the P1 million top prize, yet lucky star Bassilyo finishing his “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” game with P500,000 was indeed already something to be proud of and celebrate for everyone, especially for his fellow lucky stars.
Instead of sticking to his briefcase, he opted to swap briefcases with actress Aubrey Miles, who has been assigned the number 11. He was truly off to a promising start, as the highest amount he had opened in the first round was P100,000 while the lowest was P200, prompting Banker to offer him P111,000. But he refused to be easily swayed by the offer, as his impressive beginning had given him hope.
Bassilyo then chose to finally open his original briefcase—number 1—which was revealed to contain P5,000. He continued to open relatively lower amounts until the P1 million was opened right at the beginning of the third round, which was in the number 20 briefcase being held by singer-dancer Jeremy Glinoga.
He managed to quite bounce back in the succeeding rounds, especially when he was able to wipe out the row of lower amounts, which clearly upset Banker. Despite opening larger amounts towards the end of his game, he still chose to believe in his choice and said “NO DEAL” to Banker’s P212,000 offer.
The determination and courage shown by Bassilyo paid off as his briefcase was revealed to contain P500,000. His fellow lucky stars expressed their joy and pride for him, whom he thanked for their all-out support aside from God. The episode wrapped up with the lucky stars yelling “balato” as Luis asked him to hold his winning briefcase.
