Marcus (Richard Gutierrez) proceeds with his investigation independently while choosing to communicate with Usman (Ejay Falcon). Both are then revealed to be former classmates at the police academy, with Marcus treating Usman with great respect for his competence.
Usman politely denies Marcus’ compliments, pointing out that despite how skilled he has become, he remains in the same rank throughout his career, with a number of juniors surpassing him. Following the occurrence of Datu Rahman’s (Jaime Fabregas) escape, Usman finds himself further engulfed in criticism, as people believe that he released his fellow Muslim.
In his frustration, Usman makes it clear that he and Datu Rahman have distinct identities as Muslims, given that he is a Maranao while the Datu is Tausug. He then reassures Marcus that he was securing Datu Rahman during the transfer but was later surrounded by the crowd of protesters.
The two then deduce that someone allegedly assisted Datu Rahman, but Marcus additionally states that the Datu was taken away by some other group. Seconds later, Marcus hands Usman the bullet casings obtained from the kidnappers, and Usman promises to track down the ballistics data from NLEA while Marcus remains under suspension.
Carefully, Marcus instructs Usman to remain discrete, even to Lara (Bela Padilla).
