Rufa Mae Quinto seemed to have transported everyone back to the ‘80s as she impersonated American pop singer Tiffany and belted out the well-loved hit “All This Time” in Week 12 of “Your Face Sounds Familiar”.
While her impressive performance—which received a standing ovation from the jury—was truly astounding, everyone was indeed astonished with the response of the “Comedy Bombshell” to host Jhong Hilario’s question: “Kung may isang bagay kang hindi nasabi noon na ‘All This Time,’ anong gusto mong sabihin kay Erik?” This was after the hosts asked her to introduce guest juror Erik Santos—with whom she used to be in a relationship in the late 2000s—to her beloved daughter, Athena, who was part of the live audience.
It didn’t take Rufa Mae a long time to think, and she immediately uttered, “Bakit ba tayo naghiwalay?” This made the studio audience shriek out of sheer kilig, more so when she added, “Nagselos ka ba talaga?”
As “Megastar” Sharon Cuneta chimed in and asked Erik what really happened, Rufa Mae explained that their misunderstanding likely started from a published article at the time. A showbiz reporter asked her regarding the latest score in their relationship, to which she replied that she was already with Mark Bautista. It was supposedly just a joke, but Erik seemed to take it seriously and got hurt, which eventually led to their breakup.
Rufa Mae wasn’t done putting Erik in the hot seat as she went on to ask him why he didn’t chase her anymore, recounting that it happened on their first anniversary and while he was in Tagaytay. Pressed to explain his side of the story, Erik confessed that the main reasons were because he was still immature and that external pressure was also high at the time.
As Ogie Alcasid was about to spill what he and his wife, Regine Velasquez, knew about the ex-couple's fallout, he noticed how seemingly nervous Erik was, who stated that he would finish this issue by telling them the story in the dressing room after the show.
Just as Sharon as already giving her comments on her performance, Rufa Mae was once again prompted to talk about her past relationship with Erik Santos when the “Megastar” pointed out her sudden mention of his name in the song, which surprised and thrilled everyone. Aside from playfully asking him whether he currently has a love life—to which Erik responded that he has none—Rufa Mae also shared that they have remained on good terms even after calling it quits.
Sharon praised her for taking her previous advice for her to memorize the lyrics of the song she would perform and reminded her that although it’s natural for her to make everyone laugh, she should not always make fun of herself. Meanwhile, Ogie jokingly asked if a recorded audio was used in her performance, as her vocals were so good that he felt like she was lip-syncing and teased her, “mukhang mataas ka ngayon.”
Last, but definitely not least, was Erik, who perceived her performance as “effortless” and admitted that he didn’t expect so much, which made him appreciate what she did even more. He ended his comment by conveying how he loved her presentation overall.
