Fresh from her trip to Bolivia for the bequeathal of her crown to her successor in the Reina Hispanoamericana beauty pageant, Dia Mate captivated everyone as she transformed into one of this generation’s Latina global superstar, Camila Cabello, and performed the hit “Havana” in Week 12 of “Your Face Sounds Familiar.”
Ravishing and sultry in her bright red dress, the “Singing Reina” didn’t just showcase her impressive singing prowess but also her dancing skills, especially when gregarious and talented hosts Jhong Hilario and Vhong Navarro dared her and guest juror Erik Santos to a fun dance challenge.
It was a dance relay, in which the participants had to copy all the dance moves done by the person/s before them and add another dance move to it—all while Dia was singing “Havana.” Vhong was the first one to bust a couple of moves, followed by Jhong, then by Dia, and Erik being the last. “Megastar” Sharon Cuneta went on to join them afterwards as she playfully remarked that they forgot one step. Of course, juror Ogie Alcasid also kept up with them, showing off his amusing signature dance move to “All These Ladies” by BGYO.
Aside from her mesmerizing Filipina beauty, the jury was also enthralled by the striking confidence that she had displayed in her performance. Ogie commended her for finally overcoming her inhibitions, which allowed her to give an on-point impersonation of her icon. Erik echoed this, adding that even though he felt she lacked a bit of facial expressions—which Camila is known for—he still enjoyed her performance.
Sharon, meanwhile, supported the remarks of her fellow jurors and conveyed how proud she is of Dia for enjoying herself and doing her best in every performance.
