American singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor has released hit after hit, starting with her debut single “All About That Bass,” which eventually became an anthem. The way she incorporates dance-pop, R&B, and funk into her tracks is definitely what makes her stand out among other pop stars.
The fun we get from her music was also brought to “Your Face Sounds Familiar,” with 4 show-stopping acts transforming into Meghan Trainor.
Karla Estrada (YFSF Season 1, 2015) - “All About That Bass”
Complete with Meghan’s signature look from the “All About That Bass” music video, Karla Estrada transformed into the musician to spread fun through the song. After her performance, Karla felt a bit shy, but her fans and fellow ka-Familiars were all out supporting her.
“You’re very cute, ang dami mong napapasayang tao,” said Judge Sharon Cuneta, who hyped Karla up even more with her comments, even noting that Karla surely made everyone happy with her number. Judge Jed Madela highlighted how different this transformation was from Karla’s past impersonations, yet everything worked well for her.
Lastly, Judge Gary Valenciano remarked that Karla exudes a certain youthfulness with her energy, adding, “I am thankful na you decided to go out of your comfort zone. Maintain the joy and sunshine, because I think that’s working very, very well for you.”
Karla placed 6th at the end of the season.
Elha Nympha (YFSF Kids Season 1, 2017) - “Lips Are Movin'”
She definitely nailed the overall moves as Elha Nympha performed the hit “Lips Are Movin’.” Elha showcased her rap skills and outstanding vocals, adding charm and flair just like Meghan herself.
According to Judge Gary Valenciano, Elha’s rap delivery surprised everyone as they watched. “Ang sarap pakinggan ng isang hindi rapper na katunog niya ‘yung isang marunong talagang mag-rap. You followed the directions, ang galing talaga ng ginawa mo,” he said.
Judge Sharon Cuneta agreed with this sentiment, “You learned something new, so magagamit mo ’yan in the years to come.” Meanwhile, Judge Ogie Alcasid praised Elha’s transformation, calling it excellent and saying it left him speechless.
Elha placed 2nd at the end of the season.
Chunsa Jung (YFSF Kids Season 2, 2018) - “All About That Bass”
We definitely got cuteness aggression with Chunsa Jung performing the hit “All About That Bass,” and her facial expressions while performing were very Meghan-like, enhanced even more by her quirky dance moves that kept everyone entertained.
Judge Ogie Alcasid had interesting takeaways for Chunsa, “Ginaya mo si Meghan Trainor. Ang tanong ko, Megha-galing pa ba sa’yo?” He even mentioned that Chunsa had her own charisma, something that would surely trend.
For Judge Gary Valenciano, Chunsa is one talented kid, “Pinakita mo sa lahat na ikaw ay isang magaling na entertainer.” He also noted that Chunsa can do comedy, singing, acting, and more, which makes her a strong contender. Judge Sharon Cuneta added that Chunsa did everything naturally and was full of confidence.
Chunsa placed 7th at the end of the season.
Rufa Mae Quinto (YFSF Season 4, 2026) - “All About That Bass”
You cannot spell Rufa Mae Quinto without “fun”! And as soon as she stepped onstage, smiles were already drawn on her face, clearly showing how much she was enjoying her number. After her performance, Rufa Mae also explained that the song’s meaning is all about body positivity and self-love.
For the judges’ comments, Gary Valenciano said that what you see is what you get from Rufa Mae, stating, “Masasabi ko lang, we will not have Rufa Mae in any other way except this way. Nag-enjoy sila dahil nakita nila na nag-eenjoy ka rin.”
Judge Ogie Alcasid noted that he would surely produce Rufa Mae’s concert in the future, “Nakita mo ‘yung impact mo sa tao? Thank you for giving us the fun. It’s the best.” To cap everything off, Judge Sharon Cuneta highlighted how adorable she was during her performance, “Si Rufa Mae, kung wala sa season na ito, hindi tayo ganito kasaya.”
Meghan’s lyricism is not just for the sake of rhyming and technicalities, but also carries a special message to convey, making her no doubt a strong staple in the industry---and these performances truly live up to the positivity that Meghan wishes to resonate with us.
