10. Ramon and Olga’s wild heist in Quiapo (5.3 million views)
Let's begin this listicle with a scene from its pilot episode, which shows the arrival of then young Ramon (Coco Martin) at Quiapo, not to join in the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, but for him to carry out a daring heist along with his adoptive sister, Olga (Ryza Cenon), and their henchmen.
An intense gunfight ensued between their group and the security guards of the armored vans, with the troops of police joining afterwards in their attempt to quell them. While Olga and some of their minions managed to escape as he instructed them to go ahead, Ramon was later arrested by the police after being shot by Rigor (Ejay Falcon).
9. Tanggol and David clash at the gambling den (5.3 million views)
Tanggol wasn’t able to contain his anger upon finding out that his brother, David (McCoy de Leon), stole his name and assumed his identity to grab hold of the Montenegro family’s wealth and power. Tanggol discovered it when he examined the land title that David presented to them in his attempt to put up a lot he had obtained as collateral for the P300 million he was borrowing from them.
As it reminded him of all the maltreatments that he got from him and Rigor in the past, Tanggol mercilessly beat David up. David managed to stand up and throw a few punches, but Tanggol was too strong for him.
8. Marites stops Olga from abducting Tanggol (5.6 million views)
Of course, who would forget one of the most notable scenes in the entire history of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” in which the young Marites (Miles Ocampo) screamed the now-iconic line, “Anak ko ‘yan!”?
Although she initially resented having the child since it was the product of sexual assault—to the point that she even tried to abandon him right after giving birth to him—her maternal instinct still prevailed as she stopped Olga from kidnapping her newborn baby.
7. Tanggol and Mokang’s funny jeepney ride (5.7 million views)
Unlike typical suitors who do everything to impress the person they are courting, Tanggol preferred teasing Mokang (Lovi Poe) while still showing he had feelings for her.
In one memorable scene, Tanggol immediately lost the “pogi point” he just earned for offering to accompany Mokang on her way to school after he refused to give up his seat at the jeepney they boarded and advised her instead to sit on his lap.
6. The jeep ridden by Tanggol and Mokang got robbed (5.8 million views)
As they once again rode a jeepney on their way home from her school and roaming around Quiapo, Tanggol noticed a group of suspicious men—who turned out to be members of the Tondo Gang—hopped on. Thus, he advised Mokang to clutch her bag just in case his hunch was right.
But she replied that there was no need for her to do it since she was certain that he could defeat all of them singlehandedly, which Tanggol refuted since they were relatively many. True enough, the Tondo Gang indeed robbed the passengers a few minutes and kilometers from where Tanggol and Mokang had alighted.
5. Little Yorme meets Tanggol (6.2 million views)
From simply seeing him on “It’s Showtime” almost everyday, avid Kapamilya viewers were surprised to see kiddie internet sensation Aaron Sunga, or more popularly known as the witty and eloquent “Yorme” on “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
He played the role of Tolits, a young boy asking for alms alongside his younger sister, Tala (Erin Espiritu), to help their mom with their daily expenses. Both of them were friends with Tanggol, who would often treat them with food.
4. The baptism of Tanggol (7.6 million views)
Another scene off the pilot week that made it to this list was the baptism of Tanggol held at the Quiapo Church. As Marites failed to respond when asked by the officiating priest about the name of his child, Tindeng (Precoius Lara Quigaman) interjected that he would be named “Hesus Nazareno.”
Impressed, the priest remarked that it was a beautiful name and symbolized a blessing that comes with a heavy cross to bear, which seemed to be a foreshadowing of the life Tanggol was about to live. Meanwhile, when quizzed by Noy (Karl Medina) what prompted her to name the child after one of the most revered images of Jesus Christ, Tindeng said that she firmly believes that child is a blessing from God to their family.
3. Tanggol kills Greg (8.2 million views)
Long before he learned about his real connection with the Montenegros, one of Tanggol’s first enemies in the series was Greg (RK Bagatsing), son of Olga (Irma Adlawan)—which makes them cousins.
Greg was tasked to retrieve from Tanggol’s group the briefcase containing illegal drugs that was intended for one of their transactions. But instead of resolving the matter peacefully, Greg dragged Tanggol’s family into it by ordering his men to fire bullets at their house. This infuriated Tanggol, sparking a violent riot that also involved his friends and neighbors in San Dimas. In the end, Tanggol mercilessly kills Greg despite his pleas.
2. Ramon sexual assaults Marites (10 million views)
Definitely one of the most iconic and unforgettable scenes of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” it’s no surprise that the assault scene of Ramon to Marites during the pilot week is among the most-viewed scenes.
It can be recalled that as he was running away from the police who were chasing him, Ramon suddenly entered the Dimaguiba residence to seek refuge. He chanced upon the completely alone Marites inside and grabbed the opportunity to sexually assault her. Once he was done and about to leave, he vowed to return in nine months to claim the child they would have.
1. David’s monstrosity against Katherine (24 million views)
Last, but obviously not least, was the scene wherein David ruthlessly harassed and forced himself to Katherine (Ara Davao) after their wedding.
Despite her desperate attempts to escape, David overpowered her and carried out his wicked intentions, shocking viewers and solidifying this scene as the series’ most infamous moment.
