As Vincent becomes determined to improve the services of Cabrera News, his fury toward his father, Arthur (John Arcilla), intensifies, especially as Arthur plans to shut down the company. Vincent tries to convince him not to close it, reminding him of all the employees who would be affected.
“Truth is not important to people anymore,” says Arthur, who places more weight on connections and on people believing fake news rather than real journalism, with their loyalty now tied to shareholders. Vincent remains unfazed and promises Arthur an ultimatum: three months to save Cabrera News, in exchange for becoming its CEO.
When Vincent successfully covers a story that goes viral online and boosts Cabrera News’ numbers, he anticipates that his father will finally grant him the CEO position. However, his dream crumbles when Arthur appoints Walter Cunanan (Sam Milby) instead, sending Vincent into deeper frustration. He confronts Arthur and tells him everything he has sacrificed for the company.
However, Arthur calls him selfish, saying he did all of those things because he was aiming for a position. He insists that Walter is a better choice than Vincent, and Vincent takes it personally, claiming that Arthur has never truly treated him as his son. Before their argument escalates further, Jaqueline (Zsa Zsa Padilla) convinces Vincent that Arthur is only giving him tough love. Vincent leaves her with the words, “The lie we tell ourselves is the lie that hurts us the most.”
Vincent’s dilemma does not end there. He discovers that his wife, Claudia (Sofia Andres), is having an affair with Walter. Though he does not fully confront Claudia about it, he goes straight to Walter instead. Vincent and Walter get into a heated fistfight. The next morning, news of Walter’s death spreads. This sent everyone into panic as Walter was about to lead Cabrera News, though Matthew (Rafael Rosell) and Arthur had already been working to know who they're up against. Later, they were all interrogated as part of investigation into Walter's passing.
Vincent and Stella in the shadows
In a series of chance encounters, Vincent and Stella meet randomly. First, when Vincent gets into a road rage incident with a taxi driver, Stella happens to be the passenger. Second, when Vincent and his family arrive at the resort for Arthur's birthday party, Stella also has a commitment at the same place that day.
Vincent and Stella have their first interaction by the shore. While Vincent is cleaning off the bloodstains from his heated confrontation with Walter, he bumps into Stella and approaches her, asking why she is there. Stella refuses to answer honestly, and just as Vincent is about to leave, he accidentally gets dust on Stella, causing it to enter her eyes. Vincent blows the dust away, and in that moment, they see each other up close.
Later on, Vincent and Stella cross paths once more when Stella hops into Vincent's car for a ride to her supposed workplace. When Vincent drops her off, she heads on her way to the underground bar. Coincidentally, Vincent also chooses to spend time at the same bar, where he is introduced to the darker side of Stella as an escort under the name “Alegria,” watching her perform a fiery pole dance. Vincent later on approaches Stella and tries to book her for the night, but Stella feistily refuses to do so.
As the authorities dig deeper into who might have had the motive to kill Walter, Vincent becomes one of their prime suspects. Even Claudia starts to doubt him, noticing the bloodstains on the polo he wore that night. Vincent returns to the bar where Stella works to meet her, this time, asking for a more serious favor.
Vincent insists that he is willing to pay Stella, even offering up to one million. This unsettles Stella, who grows suspicious of Vincent’s proposal. He leaves her his calling card, but she refuses to give in to his request, despite not knowing what it could be yet. However, her brother Joseph (Enzo Osorio) has been gravely ill, and this forces Stella to reconsider her decision about Vincent’s offer.
