Jay R (YFSF Season 1, 2015) - “Hero”
Screams grew louder when Jay R stepped out of the ‘iconator’ to perform the hit song “Hero.” Rocking Enrique’s signature look, Jay R serenaded the audience with an intimate performance that captivated everyone watching.
After his performance, the judges were left speechless, especially Sharon Cuneta, who admitted she could only jot down three exclamation points in her notes. “From the vocals, to the movements, the look… that was a great job,” she remarked.
“Major goosebumps,” remarked Coach Jed Madela, noting that just like Enrique, Jay R performed with passion and emotion that resonated with the viewers---and even had a resemblance to Enrique. Judge Gary Valenciano was also impressed, telling Jay R, “You have done something tonight na talagang, I think, has set the standard again for everybody else to follow.”
Jay R placed 3rd at the end of the season.
Jhong Hilario (YFSF Season 3, 2021) - “Bailamos”
The Sample King transformed into the King of Latin Pop as Jhong Hilario performed the hit “Bailamos,” nailing even Enrique’s signature adlibs. Singing live, Jhong hit every note with precision---just like Enrique.
The jury’s comments were full of praise for Jhong. Judge Ogie Alcasid highlighted how authentic a performer he is, saying, “Ikaw ang light ng show na ito. You bring out a really great performance all the time, and tonight is no exception. ‘Yung vocals mo, wala akong masabi.”
Judge Sharon Cuneta commended Jhong for the effort he poured into his performance, expressing how proud she was of him as a performer. Judge Gary Valenciano also praised Jhong, noting the charisma and presence he exuded on stage. “Pagdating sa boses naman, sa dulo, ‘yung mataas na boses---that was actually quite good,” he said.
Jhong placed 8th at the end of the season.
Sam Shoaf (YFSF Kids Season 1, 2017) - “Hero”
The Kids edition of “YFSF” also featured a mini version of Enrique Iglesias, with Sam performing “Hero.” He sang the song with heartfelt emotion, as if delivering a mini concert onstage. By the end of his performance, Sam was moved to tears as the lyrics truly resonated with him.
Judge Ogie Alcasid felt the intensity of Sam’s performance, moved by the emotion he showed everyone. This sentiment was echoed by Judge Gary Valenciano, who was impressed by Sam’s ability to keep singing despite getting teary-eyed. “You stayed, hindi ka lumihis sa kung anong dapat mong gawin bilang isang Enrique Iglesias,” he remarked.
“Kuhang-kuha mo ‘yung intensity ni Enrique,” said Judge Sharon Cuneta, who praised Sam’s performance for being something different from his past transformations that relied on full-on production. This time, he still managed to embody Enrique even without the elaborate setup.
Sam placed 6th at the end of the season.
Jarlo Base (YFSF Season 4, 2026) - “Bailamos”
Say goodbye to Jarlo as he transformed into a Latin American pop icon to perform the dance hit “Bailamos.” His performance got everyone hooked in the studio, with the cheers continuing even after the song ended. Later, he joined Rufa Mae Quinto for a short dance number as they grooved together to “Bailamos.”
Coach Klarisse de Guzman noted how Jarlo set the stage on fire with his performance. She praised his confidence and the joy he brings to performing week after week. “At some parts, nakuha mo siya [si Enrique]. Nahuhuli mo, maganda ‘yung performance mo,” she said.
Guest Judge Karla Estrada highlighted how Enrique’s passion for performing was embodied by Jarlo. Judge Gary Valenciano also commended Jarlo for following the mentor’s guidance, noting that he captured Enrique’s essence in a way he hadn’t expected.
Enrique Iglesias’ artistry has built a legacy that continues to inspire, making him one of the most well-loved artists to this day.
