Every year, online conversations spark about which actors from today’s generation could step into the iconic roles of past ABS-CBN teleseryes if a remake were to happen. Several names of Kapamilya stars surface, and discussions among netizens dominate our feeds.
But what about the actors’ perspectives? If given the chance to star in a remake of a classic teleserye, which one would they choose to reinterpret with their own style? Some of our favorite Kapamilya artists revealed the teleserye remakes they dream of starring in!
“What Lies Beneath” star Mutya Orquia drew inspiration from one of Maja Salvador’s hit teleseryes, “Wildflower”---an action-drama about an heiress who sought revenge for her parents after their tragic death and assault. Mutya shared that she would love to be part of a remake, “Kasi gusto ko ‘yung action, na andun ‘yung fierce. Para maiba naman tayo sa soft girl era ko.” She expressed her willingness to take a leap and embrace more mature roles.
Pambansang Host Luis Manzano reminisced about his acting days in the 2008 drama-fantasy series “Dyosa,” where he portrayed Kulas from the underwater realm. Luis shared that he would love to relive his “Dyosa” experience---this time, however, he dreams of dwelling in the world of human beings.
Luis looked back on his struggles at the time, “Kasi ang hirap ng prosthetics na ‘yun. Para ikabit ‘yung prosthetics para maging shokoy, siguro mga 3 hours ikabit, tapos another hour and a half para tanggalin.” He recalled. “So ako ‘yung pinaka maagang dumating [sa set] kahit pack up na ako ng alas dos ng umaga, makakauwi ako mga alas kwatro kasi nagtatanggal ako [ng make up].”
“Goin’ Bulilit” alum Izzy Canillo also looked back on one of his past projects, expressing that he would love to star again in the 2013 teleserye “Juan dela Cruz.” Back then, Izzy played the role of young Juan, with Coco Martin later taking on the character as the adult version.
Who could forget Raikko Mateo’s iconic role as “Honesto”? The Kapamilya actor revealed that he would love to reprise the character. “I would really want to be a part of that remake, you know, if tumanda na si Honesto, and I still wanna play that role.” He said.
Lastly, Maymay Entrata shared that if you asked her teenage self which teleserye she would love to remake, KathNiel’s “Got To Believe” tops her list. “Pero ngayon, siguro gusto ko maging parte dun sa “Incognito,”” she revealed, as she now ventures into action roles.
For every ABS-CBN teleserye that left a mark on viewers, there will always be a role perfectly suited for our talented Kapamilyas---and we’d love to see them bring their own fresh take to those iconic characters.
