With the help of her best friend and colleague, Patrolwoman Chona Vasquez (Via Antonio), Ponggay’s (Maris Racal) remaining family members—her beloved grandma, Lola Florie (Perla Bautista), and her stepsister, Dimples (Criza Taa)—are able to visit her in jail.
Ponggay tells Dimples that her perpetrator, the so-called “Midnight Monster”—the alias used by Rockyboy Mondragon (Baron Geisler) on social media to lure and victimize women—is already dead. From being belligerent towards her policewoman-sister as she refused to cooperate when Ponggay conducted her personal investigation for her case, Dimples meekly thanks her for her relentless pursuit of justice for what “Midnight Monster” had done to her and his other victims. The moment deeply touches Ponggay, especially when Dimples finally calls her “ate.”
As Lola Florie questions Ponggay about why she has ended up behind bars, the latter explains that she is being accused of conspiring with the notorious criminal Tanggol (Coco Martin). Chona quickly interjects that there is still no concrete evidence to prove the claim.
Nonetheless, Ponggay remains resolute in taking responsibility for the mistake she made that left her fellow officers either wounded or dead. This prompts Chona to reaffirm her promise to help her get out jail, to which Ponggay objects since she is not willing to risk implicating her to the trouble that she has gotten herself into.
Since they’re the only family she has left, Ponggay urges Lola Florie and Dimples to leave Quiapo and move to the province to keep themselves safe from the ruthless Guerreros.
Lola Florie, however, firmly rejects the idea as she reminds Ponggay that she did not raise her to be a coward who retreats in the face of threats, and that it is her sworn duty as a police officer to protect and defend the oppressed and abused—just as she has done for Tanggol.
Dimples agrees with their grandmother, assuring Ponggay that she’s not alone in her fight against the Guerreros, especially now that many Manileños are already enlightened about powerful family’s horrible and massive corruption. Lola Florie and Chona encourage Ponggay not to lose hope nor give up because they’re confident that she will soon be freed. Besides, it is also from her whom they draw strength and inspiration to continue standing up to the Guerreros.
Before parting, Ponggay tells Lola Florie that she is the source of her strength, bravery, and motivation in this ongoing battle. She also reminds them to stay safe and asks Chona to look after her grandmother and sister for her.
“Ipinagmamalaki kita bilang apo ko dahil hindi nagbago ang paninindigan mo sa tama. Kung nasaan man ang tatay mo ngayon, tiyak, ipinagmamalaki ka no’n,” Lola Florie tells her beloved granddaughter, which further warms the heart of Ponggay and brings her to tears.
Despite the bars separating them, Ponggay still manages to hug and kiss Lola Florie goodbye. After they leave, she reflects on her ordeal, finally understanding why her late father, Mauro (Richard Quan), never lost heart when he once found himself in the same predicament because of the Guerreros. Thus, she prays for his guidance in the battles ahead and vows to seek justice for his death.
