Our Kuantie Melai Cantiveros-Francisco is back with her first 2026 episode of “Kuan on One” Season 4! It’s a mini reunion for our “Magandang Buhay” momshies as Queen Mother Karla Estrada joins Melai to share her life journey as an actress and as the mom of a showbiz royalty.
In the January 13 episode, Karla also took on the “Blind Taste Test” challenge during the “Dakong Problema” segment. The mechanics were that both Melai and Karla would be blindfolded, and the “Kuan-clones” would have them alternately taste mystery food. They would then describe the food without naming it, and try to guess which delicacy the other person was eating.
Melai started the game by being fed a piece of lechon. Her face instantly lit up upon tasting it, even telling Karla that she would guess it right away since it’s her favorite food. Melai described lechon as the dish often served during fiestas, something that is laid out on the table. Karla excitedly answered lechon, guessing correctly, then peeked for a few seconds and shared a bite of lechon with Melai.
In Round 2, it was Karla’s turn to taste the mystery food, where she was fed suman. At first, she couldn’t quite taste it and had to take a second bite, but later on she was able to describe it to Melai as, “Kakanin natin ‘to sa probinsya… Matamis siya na parang may budbud.” Melai successfully guessed suman. She also had a taste of the delicacy, while Karla jokingly said she would take a few pieces home.
A pasalubong staple was the mystery food given to Melai in the third round. She described it to Karla as a biscuit, something crunchy that starts with the letter “O.” Karla immediately guessed it right---it was otap.
They then proceeded to the fourth round, where Karla was given the street food. She described it to Melai as their favorite, “Meron siyang parang kuan, zigzag.” Surprisingly, Melai had a hard time guessing as she forgot the exact name. Karla gave her a clue that it was something like barbecue, and Melai finally guessed isaw correctly.
For the last round, Karla took a bite of another street food, “Mula sa family ng iniihaw… tapos bilog siya, maalat. Kulay red na pwede mong i-barbecue.” She added more details for Melai, who was once again struggling to guess. Karla had another bite and described it further: “May balat.” This time, Melai got it right with the answer, chorizo.
It was a fun challenge for both Melai and Karla, who described the game as something that left them full afterward.
