“Your Face Sounds Familiar” is set to return for its brand new season beginning this October 4 and 5! And among the eight celebrity performers to showcase their skills in impersonating local and international artists is rising singer, songwriter, and music producer Jarlo Base, aptly tagged as “The Breakout Crooner.”
Since he’s still quite new in the entertainment industry, not much is known about him yet—aside from being one of the recommended artists of a BINI member! Before we get to see what he has in store for us, let’s get to know Jarlo even for a bit via these awesome facts that we’ve discovered about him.
He is an Awit Awards winner
The COVID-19 pandemic might be a challenging period for us, but it was apparently in 2020 when Jarlo started to create and record music, which he uploaded on his YouTube channel and Spotify account. And amazingly, his releases since then were able to gain traction from OPM and new music enthusiasts, such as “Kalapati,” “Malumanay,” “Honey Mae,” “Humpay,” “Sisa,” “Planeta,” and “Maldita.”
Among these songs, it was through “Kalapati” that he snagged the “Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist” trophy at the prestigious Awit Awards in 2023.
He is a certified Star Magic talent
From simply serenading us with his song covers and making us vibe to his original songs on YouTube, he went on to sign a contract with a different talent agency. And now, he’s more eager to expand his music career and to step into a brighter spotlight, as he officially joined Star Magic, the powerhouse talent management arm of ABS-CBN, in March 2025.
“Sana marami akong maka-work na ibang tao, kasi I think nandoon ‘yong heart ng music—jams and collaboration. And this is, I would say, my first major agency management. Although may mga record label na ako na I signed with before, this is the first management talaga na ganito kalaki,” Jarlo told the press during the contract signing event, as reported by PUSH.
He is a loud and proud “Bloom”
While there are guys who are probably shy to admit that they are fanboys of the “nation’s girl group,” BINI, Jarlo is proud to admit that he’s a certified “Bloom,” with member Colet Vergara being his ultimate bias. In Star Magic contract signing event, he was surprised to receive a video greeting from BINI Colet, who congratulated him for this new milestone in his career and commended him for being a promising singer-songwriter.
He went on to reminisce about the time when BINI Colet recommended his song, “Tabi Gabi Gabi”, to her followers on the social networking site X (formerly Twitter). The gesture indeed delighted him and gave him hope since he was crestfallen that day, so he was utterly thankful to her. Now that they’re under one management, Jarlo wishes to write a song inspired by her and to even collaborate with her.
