Madlang people have been fervidly tuning in to “Laro Laro Pick” on "It's Showtime" as the POT money has climbed past half a million. But beyond the thrill of the games and the suspense of whether the jackpot prize will finally be won, viewers are also entertained by the candid banter between the hosts and the players represented by everyday workers bringing their own interesting stories to the stage. Add to that the lighthearted moments and punchlines in the game arena, all of which are compiled in this Kapamilya Update video.
There’s probably nothing more spontaneous than an unexpected onstage injury. First on the list of “Laro Laro Pick” unforgettable episodes is when Karylle went all out with her dance moves. Everyone knows how much she loves to dance—she’s super flexible and can even pull off splits—but during one performance on the mini-platform, she danced a little too hard that she suddenly twisted her foot mid-show. Ryan Bang stepped in to help, but not without poking fun at her Ate K, saying, "Ate K, mahal kita. Pero hindi ka na bata."
In another episode, everyone got their dose of good vibes from Tatay Jerry, a 'sepulturero' of 45 years who has been widowed for 15, feeling young again standing between Jackie Gonzaga and Cianne Dominguez. "Naguguluhan ako sa inyo," he quipped, torn over the ladies' mesmerizing beauty. But when Lassy and MC took over their spots, Tatay Jerry got even more confused that he reacted, "Bakit hindi na lang kayong dalawa ang magsama?"
During the round with medics and embalmers alongside fitness instructors and janitors, player Kath was asked to demonstrate the correct way of performing CPR, to which she explained that mouth-to-mouth resuscitation is no longer advisable, prompting Vice Ganda to jokingly express her disappointment, which opened the door for Jhong Hilario to suggest that if Vice insisted on a mouth-to-mouth demonstration, perhaps Armando, an 'embalsamador of 40 years, could volunteer. The punchline landed even harder when Vice’s partner, Ion Perez, gave his go-signal. And after all the laughter, Vice wrapped up the exchange on a heartfelt note by giving Armando an advance birthday gift.
When fortune-tellers joined the game, Betty and Ella drew attention with their good energy. But things got hilariously chaotic when they predicted each other’s destiny. Ella told Betty she saw an uncertain future, to which Betty shot back, "Okay ka lang?"
Jhong felt uneasy when player Shine, a radiology technologist, said she had “missed” something about him. The slip-up left her so flustered that she stumbled over her explanation, prompting Jhong to call on Vhong Navarro for a much-needed rescue.
Vice Ganda cracked up the audience when he joked that player Jake looked like "mabilis tumakbo." The banter only got better when Jake showed he could throw a punchline too, joking that Vice was the "leader" of their gang.
Anne Curtis may not appear on the show daily, but she definitely made her presence felt in one "Laro Laro Pick" round. During an interview with Erniel, a cook, Vice Ganda asked her what dish she loved most from her husband Erwan Heussaff. Anne, in her classy accent, answered “tomato soup”—pronounced toh-muh-tow—which sent Vice into mock outrage, "Parang ang mahal mahal ng kamatis n'yo, girl!"
With moments this hilarious, plus the jackpot suspense, no wonder “Laro Laro Pick” keeps madlang people hooked day after day. Catch all the fun on “It’s Showtime,” airing Mondays to Saturdays, 12nn on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), A2Z, GMA 7, and iWant.
