If you’re an avid viewer of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, then you’re definitely aware that a lot of shocking and bewildering secrets were unraveled over the recent months, which indeed changed the course of the lives of most of the main characters.
And among the revelations that indeed blew our minds is the illicit affair of Don Gustavo (Dante Rivero) with his daughter-in-law Jackie (Angel Aquino) in the past, which actually gave birth to Miguelito (Jake Cuenca), whom we really thought was her child with Don Gustavo’s son, Roberto Guerrero (Albert Martinez).
While it seemed that the Guerrero family had already moved on from the past, Don Gustavo apparently still harbors romantic feelings for Jackie. Want proof? Well, this Kapamilya Toplist feature shows us 10 scenes from the well-liked primetime series showing how the Guerrero patriarch is still head over heels for Jackie.
What appeared to be just a simple glance of Don Gustavo at Jackie as they were about to leave the Guerrero mansion turned out to be a look of longing or admiration, for she was all dolled up for an event they would attend to as a family. The matriarch, Doña Pilar (Celia Rodriguez), seemed to have caught that moment, so she gave Jackie a death glare.
Doña Pilar may be his wife, but it’s truly noticeable how Don Gustavo would often object to her and then agree with whatever Jackie would say. Just like when Jackie argued about her right to use “Guerrero” in introducing herself and in creating campaign paraphernalia as she runs as a party-list representative. As Doña Pilar tagged Jackie as “a user in more ways than one,” Don Gustavo called her out and said that she’s allowed to utilize it if that will help her win.
Seeing how offended she was by what Doña Pilar had told her earlier that day, Don Gustavo talked to her intimately and advised her to not take whatever his wife would say into her heart. While it seemed harmless, since many assumed that the old man was just being nice to his daughter-in-law, many were surely mind-blown when he suddenly caressed her on her right arm—hinting that there’s definitely more to them than being in-laws.
Jackie went on to have another debate with Doña Pilar regarding the modern and most effective way of campaigning at the present time. As the latter informed the family over breakfast that she would tap the help of her friends in media, the former argued that it would be better for them to hop on the trend of utilizing social media in order for their campaign to reach more people. Of course, Don Gustavo once again came to Jackie’s rescue and reminded Doña Pilar how their daughter-in-law has been helpful to their family through the years.
The clash between the two women didn’t end there yet, as Jackie proposed for them to use Fatima (Andrea Brillantes), the young woman from the slums who was harassed by Miguelito, in order to gain the favor of the masses. While Doña Pilar refused the idea since it might derail their campaign rather than boost it, Don Gustavo approved it, as people seemed to like her team’s gimmick. Of course, this irked the matriarch, so she confronted Jackie for doing something without informing them first and then chided her husband for once again giving his point to Jackie.
Don Gustavo and Jackie once again had a private conversation, wherein he expressed his regret for not giving him any position during his reign at the city hall. But she implied that it was actually okay for her since she would rather work hard for her place in politics on her own than depend on anyone in power like him. As he went on to touch her anew and tell her that how they were before and now is just the same for him, Jackie reminded him that she’s already the wife of his son.
From being gentle with her, Don Gustavo eventually became savage towards Jackie as he sexually harassed her in that same room she shares with Roberto. She tried to stop him by fighting back at him and telling him off that she’s no longer the prostitute whom he could just use and pay, yet he reminded her that she is in his territory and that it’s him who brought her to the good life she has been enjoying. Don Gustavo may be old, but he was still too strong for her, so Jackie wasn’t able to do anything.
Even when they were in front of many people, Don Gustavo was still able to find a way to touch Jackie, which happened during the campaign rally of Team Guerrero. Little did they know that Doña Pilar actually noticed that moment, which made her eyes roll out of annoyance.
And lastly, Don Gustavo once again succeeded in taking advantage of Jackie one night while Roberto was away. He took the opportunity that she was soundly asleep and forced himself on her despite her fighting back, but her strength was really no match for him. Unfortunately, Roberto didn’t do anything to save her from his own father and just turned his back on the scene, when Jackie was actually asking for his help.
