Five years into the industry, “Pinoy Big Brother Connect” alum Andi Abaya did not only make her “Maalaala Mo Kaya” debut via its episode tagged as “Barefoot Runner” but also immediately scored her first-ever lead role on her first-ever appearance in the long-running drama anthology as she portrays 2025 Palarong Pambansa gold medalist Trixia “Tikya” Arellano.
Since the story follows the journey of the main character in competitive running, we had her take on the “Run or Walk Challenge” during her latest guesting, in which she had to determine whether she would “run for” or “walk away from” the scenarios that the host had given her, as well as provide a little explanation or backstory behind her choice.
For the first category, which was “memory ng isang gamit pero hindi naman na ginagamit,” Andi said that she would likely “run” for it since she’s the sentimental type of person who likes to keep or hoard stuff that she holds dear to her heart, except if there’s a bad memory attached to it. Many could probably relate when she admitted that it is actually hard for her to delete photos or videos that signify a favorite memory of hers, as well as to discard any item that has been special for her.
Meanwhile, with regard to “mga damit na hindi na ginagamit,” she would probably “walk” away except if an item has sentimental value for her. She has limited space at home, so she has no choice but to give her clothes away that either no longer fit her to the children of their helpers at home or try to sell them via the garage sale that her mommy organizes.
As a self-confessed impulse buyer, Andi said that she’s inclined to “run” for “mga binili na wala nang gamit,” since she has the tendency to buy stuff that she actually doesn’t need, which she has already been trying to tone down. Among the stuff that she found it difficult to resist were cute cases for her personal effects and so-called “merch” of her favorite anime.
And lastly, she would definitely “walk” away from the boxes of bags and shoes that she had purchased. It has been seemingly her habit to immediately throw them away because they would only take up space and gather dust. Besides, her mommy reprimands her every time her room is messy, so she always makes sure to keep it clean.
