Anne Curtis has been in the local entertainment industry for almost three decades now, with the 1997 classic fantasy adventure flick “Magic Kingdom: Ang Alamat ng Damortis” being her first-ever foray into acting after she was discovered by a talent scout at a fast-food joint.
However, it was only in 2004 when she officially became a Kapamilya following her transfer to ABS-CBN, with “Hiram” being her teleserye debut. She immediately impressed avid Kapamilya viewers with her performance as Stephanie Borromeo, the arrogant, ruthless, and self-destructive main female antagonist.
The following year, she was tapped to portray the titular role of the hunchback lady bell-ringer Fatima/Imang in the 2005 fantasy series “Kampanerang Kuba.” It was inspired by the fictional character created by legendary Pinoy komiks writer Pablo S. Gomez and was loosely based on the 1973 film of the same title starring Vilma Santos-Recto.
In 2006, Anne’s portrayal of damsel in distress Celine Magsaysay-Berenguer in the romance drama series “Maging Sino Ka Man” was truly remarkable, making it one of the most unforgettable characters she has ever done. She reprised the role in its sequel, “Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik,” which was released around seven months after the first book concluded.
It was in 2008 when the whole nation began calling her “diyosa” or “goddess,” as she starred in the fantasy series “Dyosa,” which has been a favorite among solid Kapamilya fans. It can be recalled that she didn’t depict just one but four different personas—as mortal Josephine Sinukuan and as goddesses Dyosa Tierra (a centaur), Dyosa Agua (a mermaid), and Dyosa Cielo (a harpy, or a half-bird and half-woman).
The following year, she was among the stars who made a special appearance in the classic inspirational series “May Bukas Pa,” taking on the role of Carla Sandoval.
In 2011, Anne worked in two teleseryes, namely “Green Rose” and “100 Days To Heaven.” She astounded us with her dramatic chops as Angela Tuazon in the Pinoy remake of the K-drama of the same title released in 2005, with her being the counterpart of Hallyu actress Lee Da-hae. She then had a cameo stint in the inspirational drama “100 Days To Heaven” as a “Tagabantay,” or “gatekeeper of heaven,” who approached lead character Anna Manalastas (Xyriel Manabat/Coney Reyes) as a rallyist during the protest of the toy company’s workers union.
Two years later, she became a kontrabida to Kris Aquino in the 2013 drama series “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” as she took on the role of the latter’s rebellious younger sister, Ruth Manrique.
She went back to the fantasy genre and once again transformed into a mermaid in 2014 via “Mars Ravelo’s Dyesebel,” which was ABS-CBN’s TV adaptation of the Pinoy graphic novel of the same title.
Anne was among the celebrities who made a special appearance in the long-running action-drama series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” in 2016, fascinating us with her depiction of Trina Trinidad, a rich woman with whom Coco Martin’s character Cardo Dalisay had to work as a bodyguard.
In 2019, she made an acting comeback both on TV and “Maalaala Mo Kaya” via its “Sinturon” episode, in which she amazed us with her performance as transgender man Marrz Balaoro, an overseas Filipino worker who experienced a lot of struggles during his transition journey.
And more than a decade since she last headlined a teleserye, Anne once again topbills another series this 2025, much to the excitement of her ardent fans and loyal Kapamilya viewers ever since it was announced that ABS-CBN Studios would do the Philippine remake of the well-loved Hallyu series “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay.” The decorated actress-host takes on the female lead role originally played by Korean actress Seo Yea-ji.
