Now on its fourth season, there’s never a dull moment on “Your Face Sounds Familiar,” especially with a celebrity performers that’s always game for anything and ready to surprise viewers with new personas every week. But before diving into the main challenge, we decided to shake things up by putting our ka‑Familiars on the spot with a quick and super fun test: impersonate someone right now and give us a short sample.
The Birit Duo, JMielle’s JM Dela Cerna and Marielle Montellano, wasted no time transforming into some of our favorite singing icons. Marielle channeled Karen Carpenter, delivering a warm and velvety impression of the Carpenters’ classic “Yesterday Once More.” JM, on the other hand, paid tribute to OPM Chief Ogie Alcasid with his heartfelt take on the beloved hit “Nandito Ako.”
More OPM icons made it to their impersonation list, too. Theater Rak-star Pepe Herrera gamely channeled Rico J. Puno with his version of the classic “Lupa.” Meanwhile, Prince of Soul Jason Dy did a lighthearted impression of his close friend, Pop Ballad Royalty Erik Santos, performing a snippet of the hit “Pagbigyang Muli.”
The spotlight then moved to international artists. Our Singing Reina Dia Mate expressed her admiration for Amy Winehouse through a fun rendition of the crowd-favorite “Valerie.” Ace Idol Akira Morishita followed with a short take on Shawn Mendes’ hit “Stitches.” Comedy Bombshell Rufa Mae Quinto also joined the lineup, initially torn between embodying Rihanna or Shakira, before finally choosing the latter and giving her own spin on the song “Underneath Your Clothes.”
And because Rufa Mae is that iconic, her name came up once again, this time from Gen-Z Total Performer Alexa Ilacad, who picked her as her impersonation choice and even spilled a fun behind-the-scenes story from before she officially joined the competition. “Nung sinabihan ako na try ko lang daw manggaya ng kahit sino, si Ate Peachy talaga ‘yung tinry ko.” She then followed it up with a quick impression of Rufa Mae's iconic line “Go, go, go!”
Lastly, Breakout Crooner Jarlo Base brought the laughs with his take on comedian Babalu’s iconic line “Nang‑aano ka eh, ha…”---and he couldn’t help but crack up at his own delivery.
With all the laughs and spot‑on impressions, our favorite Ka‑Familiars definitely know how to put on a show. Now that we’re getting halfway through the season, we’re even more excited to see what they’ll bring next in the coming “YFSF” episodes.
