Before becoming our Birit Duo, did you know that JMielle---JM Dela Cerna and Marielle Montellano---were both alums of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” on “It’s Showtime”? The two individually joined the singing competition in different seasons. Marielle competed in Season 1 back in 2016, while JM joined Season 3 in 2019, where he finished in 3rd place. In 2023, JM and Marielle teamed up for “Tawag ng Tanghalan Duets” as the “Sidlak Bisdak” duo, taking home the win at the end of the competition.
Now, as JMielle, JM and Marielle continue to bless our ears with their golden voices---talent that has carried them to stages where they can showcase the artistry that brought them together. Today, they are also among the celebrity performers of “Your Face Sounds Familiar”
Aside from tracing their journey to stardom, this episode of “Atin A10 Lang” also highlights the fun and interesting facts that JMielle candidly shared with us, giving fans a chance to know them even better.
Marielle Montellano proves that her talent goes beyond singing. She has shown different sides that highlight her versatility, such as being both an athlete and a beauty queen. “I used to run for the athletics team of my school back in elementary… Dati rin akong nag-join ng pageants, but then I stopped for a certain time din,” she recalled. Adding to her quirks, Marielle revealed that she can perform fun tricks with her fingers. She also shared that she auditioned for “Your Face Sounds Familiar” about two to three years ago, and now, the stars have finally aligned as she officially joins the reality competition.
Her partner, JM Dela Cerna, is equally multi-talented. Beyond his powerful vocals, JM enjoys drawing and sketching. His musical journey is also rooted in discipline, having been a choir member back then. “Nag-choir ako from high school to college,” he said. When it comes to his personal favorites, JM admits to snacking on powdered milk and names the blockbuster hit “The Hows of Us,” starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, as his all-time favorite film.
And, lastly, a shared fact that JMielle revealed is that they now consider this journey as their “second life.”
After their “TNT” stint, JMielle went on to release song covers and original tracks from their EP collaboration titled “JMielle in Love” under Star Music, and recently, their newest Christmas single “Paborito Kong Pasko.”
