With the murder-mystery iWant original film “The Last Resort” now streaming, Kapamilya stars Karina Bautista and Aljon Mendoza unveiled more of their levelled-up acting prowess in the December 3 episode of Kapamilya Chat, taking on the “Acting Challenge” with their own flair.

On the spot, the challenge had the two actors pick random prompts from a clear bowl and portray their chosen character profiles while seamlessly connecting them to create a single fictional world and a fully coherent and engaging scenario.

As the creative performance went on, the pair delivered accurate and hilarious takes on Filipino attitudes that many could relate to with a dash of professionalism.

The first round consisted of Karina playing an irritated person finding a lost slipper, whilst Aljon was also a foul-mood character but was cooking rice. They wasted no time to think about the flow and went straight ahead to depict their selected personalities.

Karina, dressed in a bright yellow gown, put on a frowning countenance as she frustratedly asked Aljon—who appeared to be washing rice—to move aside. Adding a comical twist, she accused him of taking her slipper, prompting Aljon to scratch his ear in confusion before finally losing patience and banning Karina from eating.

Taken aback, Karina donned an adorable pouting expression at the reprimand before Aljon delivered the iconic line every Filipino associate with their mothers: “Bibig kasi pinanghahanap mo… May mata ka [naman],” he exclaimed.

The pair almost burst into laughter when Karina flipped Aljon’s statement, asking why he cooked with his hands but not with his mouth—a remark Aljon sarcastically reenacted.

Another witty and entertaining plot unfolded in the second round, with the enthusiastic Karina portraying someone tired of opening gifts, and the puzzled Aljon playing a bashful fellow changing the curtains.

Returning with a sulking yet exhausted demeanor, Karina set the tone, while Aljon, on the other hand, wore a sheepish smile and let out a chuckle. He opened the scene by asking her if she was okay, to which she quickly responded with a firm “no,” ordering Aljon to apologetically open the imagined gifts.

Going back to his antics, Aljon asked Karina to confirm whether his supposedly proper and orderly method of replacing the curtains was acceptable. Karina, visibly frustrated, voiced another relatable phenomenon in a Filipino household: “Ako na lang ang kumikilos sa bahay na ’to. Kurtina na lang, hindi pa maganda,” she grumbled.

In a rush, Aljon helped Karina with the gifts once more before apologizing for his mishap with the curtains. The challenge ended with the duo bursting into laughter over their chemistry and the relatability of the prompts.

Catch the growth of KarJon in their acting journey in “The Last Resort,” now streaming on iWant.
