As she expressed her interest in getting to know him better and deeper, Tanggol (Coco Martin) got vulnerable and recounted to Ponggay (Maris Racal) his woeful life story. He started by imparting how he grew up in poverty in Quiapo, which compelled him to steal from other people for him to be able to help his family with their finances.
Making his life even worse was being abused by the man whom he thought was really his father, Rigor (John Estrada), which Ponggay found unbelievable since she knew him as a morally upright police official. Just when he thought that his life was already hopeless, his biological father, Ramon (Christopher de Leon), arrived and inspired him to dream again.
And in his pursuit of correcting his past mistakes and making up to his and his pickpocket friends’ past victims, he agreed to run as mayor in the last elections with the primary goal of alleviating the lives of his fellow Manileños. However, this caused a misunderstanding between him and his family, as his father and grandfather's main reason for pushing him to run was for him to be able to protect their family business.
He may have lost in his bid to become the new mayor of Manila, but Tanggol said that he has remained steadfast in his objective of fixing Manila and exposing the truth about the Guerreros. As Ponggay blurted out that she perceived the Guerreros to be decent people, Tanggol revealed to her that they’re actually the protectors of various illegal activities in Manila. Besides, everything that they said and promised the people was nothing but falsehoods, so he would do anything he could to kick them out of their seats.
