Coming from their successful England concert just last month, "ASAP" crossed another continent as they took the Kapamilya party all the way to Canada for "ASAP in Vancouver" and it was another all-out parade of world-class Filipino talent, still as part of the show's year-long 30th anniversary celebration.
Filipino fans packed the Pacific Coliseum last October 18 for a night of explosive performances and that familiar sense of home we always feel when "ASAP" goes global. And for those of us here in the Philippines, we didn’t miss out on the fun either, as "ASAP" airs the Vancouver special on its regular Sunday timeslot. The first part of the concert was already featured in the October 26 episode.
The Vancouver show kicked off with a spectacular celebration of Filipino artistry, resilience, and culture, with an all-star opening act that gathered the best of the best local performers. The crowd went wild when they heard that familiar handsome voice singing the first lines of the Hotdog hit “Manila," none other than the Supreme Idol, Daniel Padilla. As he stepped into the spotlight, the cheers multiplied. Daniel smoothly transitioned the song from mellow to full-on upbeat, making everyone in the arena sway and smile.
Knowing how much the overseas Filipinos missed their home, Daniel promised that the “ASAP” family would bring a piece of Manila, and the whole Philippines, with them to Vancouver. He then introduced none other than Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, who appeared to perform “Noypi.” The crowd roared again as Darren Espanto and Iñigo Pascual reunited on stage.
It was a nice concept how each artist introduced the next one, keeping the flow seamless and exciting. Iñigo welcomed Martin Nievera, who brought out “Sandalan,” before sharing the stage with Sofronio Vasquez and Erik Santos. Next up in the 'rock 'n roll' medley was “Sugod” performed by Zsa Zsa Padilla, Jona, and Klarisse de Guzman, followed by “Sikat Ang Pinoy” led by Ogie Alcasid, Yeng Constantino, and Angeline Quinto, which was a fitting anthem, now that the “Pinoy Big Brother” house has officially reopened for the newest season, “PBB Collab 2.0,” featuring a fresh batch of Gen Z artists.
Regine returned for one more round of “Noypi,” bringing everyone together in one powerful finale that perfectly captured Filipino pride.
But the surprises didn’t stop with the all-star, OPM-themed opening number. The Pacific Coliseum came even more alive when the ultimate heartthrob himself, Piolo Pascual, was introduced. The crowd, especially the ladies, went wild as Piolo appeared from the audience area, walking toward the stage while singing “Sama-Sama” by Alamid. Everyone joined in the chorus, and soon the rest of the “ASAP” cast filled the stage for an epic sing-along.
Now that’s how you open a show—with a star-studded lineup and the unbeatable charm combo of Daniel and Piolo leading the way.
The concert party continued with a theme centered on empowered women. Representing this spirit of creative and unapologetic expression was Moira Dela Torre, the “Queen of Hugot” and the Philippines’ most-streamed artist, who has redefined modern OPM by breaking stereotypes about what artistry should sound like. She serenaded the crowd with “Malaya.” The song, which she first released in 2018 and later expanded into a stunning 10-minute version in 2022, filled the stadium with pure emotion.
The audience was then treated to a heart-melting surprise when Moira welcomed her friend Daniel Padilla back to the stage for a duet. Together, they performed “Mabagal,” the slow-dance single we didn’t realize we missed until that very moment. The track was first performed by Daniel and Moira as interpreters for the “Himig Handog” songwriting competition in 2019, and hearing it live again almost felt like nostalgia.
From slow-dance serenade and hugot feels, the vibe turned fun and flirty as four of the most admired guys in showbiz, usually seen acting or hosting, turned into full-on ‘dancerists.’ Leading the pack was Enchong Dee, who kicked off the segment with his trademark confidence and charm. "ASAP" hosts Robi Domingo and Edward Barber then joined in, trading their microphones for dance moves.
And just when the audience thought it couldn’t get any more exciting, the venue erupted into screams when Joshua Garcia took the stage. Looking effortlessly handsome in his leather jacket, Joshua showed off his adorable moves that sent fans into a frenzy. He’s still riding high from the success of his recently concluded hit series “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” where he starred alongside Enchong.
Showcasing, celebrating, and raising the Filipino flag high through music, "ASAP in Vancouver" continued to honor world-class Pinoy talent with a collaboration that united singing-contest champions turned OPM icons and Filipino performers from Canada who have also carried Pinoy pride onto the global stage.
Together with the Himig ng Kabataan Cultural Society, the segment opened with “Star Power” grand champion Angeline Quinto, who sang her winning piece “Sa Isang Pangarap.” She then introduced “Pinoy Dream Academy” Grand Star Dreamer Yeng Constantino, who performed her iconic “Salamat,” joined by Teresa Puri, 2025 “Karaoke World Championship Canada” winner.
The parade of musical excellence went on as “The Voice USA” champion Sofronio Vasquez took the spotlight with his winning song “A Million Dreams,” joined by Raymond Salgado, a 2025 “Canada’s Got Talent” contestant.
We also got to relive Jona’s winning moment as she belted out “Close to Where You Are,” the very song that marked her big moment as the "Pinoy Pop Superstar" grand champion in 2005. This time, she shared the stage with Beverly Saraza, a 2025 "Canada’s Got Talent" contestant and multi-gold medalist from WCOPA.
Representing "Star in a Million" was grand champion Erik Santos, who gave a powerful performance of “Pagbigyang Muli,” one of the tracks from his debut album “This Is the Moment.” He was joined by Argel MDR, a multi-medalist from WCOPA.
“Your Face Sounds Familiar” Season 3 grand winner Klarisse De Guzman joined the lineup, performing a soulful rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” alongside Edel Quibol, a “Tawag ng Tanghalan” alum whose vocals perfectly complemented Klarisse’s powerhouse tone.
Soon after, all the artists gathered, leading to one of the night’s most special introductions. Angeline welcomed back on stage their inspiration, the one and only Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, calling her "nagsimula ng lahat, ang nagbukas ng pinto sa napakaraming singers" and "the champion of all champions." The Asia’s Songbird delivered a breathtaking rendition of “In Your Eyes."
Hi-hi-hi-hi! Of course, the show wouldn’t be complete without the Unkabogable Superstar Vice Ganda, who brought laughter and joy to the Filipinos in Vancouver, many of whom missing the warmth and humor of home. Vice's 'pasabog'' performance of “Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo” had the entire Pacific Coliseum roaring with excitement as she strutted on stage in a flashy, sparkly red one-piece suit.
After that number, Vice stepped down from the stage to mingle with the audience. She chatted with several Filipinos who have been living in Canada for years. And yes, she did what she does best—cracking jokes and spreading good vibes with her brand of 'puksaan' humor.
Love has always been at the heart of the “It’s Showtime” barkada—and that same love was felt by everyone in the venue. In true Pinoy fashion (because what’s more Filipino than a videoke session?), Vice Ganda and the “It’s Showtime” squad turned the night into a hilarious karaoke showdown.
Vice picked a few lucky “madlang audience” members—fellow Filipinos who were totally game for some witty 'asaran' and later called in her Showtime besties Anne Curtis, Jhong Hilario, Vhong Navarro, Kim Chiu, Ogie Alcasid, and Darren Espanto. They formed teams and went head-to-head in a karaoke showdown that had everyone singing, laughing, and cheering.
Vice and her partner got the ball rolling with “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal.” Then came Darren and Vhong’s group with “Mula sa Puso,” followed by Ogie and Jhong’s team, whose “madlang people” partner had such an unexpectedly unique voice that Vice couldn’t resist poking fun. The teasing went on when Kim sang the intro of “Kapag Ako Ay Nagmahal,” and, of course, Anne gave her all even if it was “just” a karaoke round.
