Episode 59 of "It’s Okay to Not Be Okay" is a full-on cry fest following the appearance of the butterfly painting on Matmat (Carlo Aquino)’s mural, which leads Mia (Anne Curtis) to the devastating truth that her mother is behind the murder of Patrick (Joshua Garcia) and Matmat’s mother. Anne, Joshua, and Carlo bring their A-game here, outdoing themselves in their ability to make viewers cry with their scenes.
The episode picks up from Matmat’s breakdown as he stares at the black butterfly painted in the middle of his mural—the exact same design as the brooch pin worn by the woman who killed his and Patrick’s mom. Mia’s eyes well with tears as she looks at the butterfly painting and listens to Matmat, recognizing the butterfly design which was created by her mother, Ingrid (Empress Schuck), and which only the two of them knew about, therefore, she realizes, her mother killed Tessie (Meryll Soriano).
Patrick runs after Mia, but she insists on being left alone to process everything and instead tells him to stay with Matmat, who is trembling in fear. Along with Nanay Li (Rio Locsin), Patrick comforts Matmat, who hides under a table in the kitchen, saying that someone might just be trying to mess with his painting out of jealousy. With Patrick’s courage, Matmat finds his own bravery too and promises that they’ll both be strong together. Joshua breaks hearts in this scene as Patrick’s pain pours out through his restrained sobs, as if reminding viewers that this role was his to own from the start.
At the mansion, Mia rummages through her mother’s old belongings as she desperately searches for the butterfly pin, terrified by the thought that her mother might really come back and take away everything good she’s finally found in life. In the middle of her search, Patrick arrives and tells her that just recently, Matmat was finally able to speak about what he saw on the night their mother was murdered. As much as he wants to say that Ingrid might not be alive just to ease Mia’s fear, given everything that’s been happening, it feels as though she truly is.
Mia tells Patrick to leave as they’ll all end up getting hurt again if Ingrid does return, knowing exactly how much of a monster her mother can be. But Patrick refuses to go and makes a promise that he won’t leave her side, especially now that she might be in danger if Ingrid is indeed alive and coming back.
Our ugly-crying doesn’t end there because we’re all bawling our eyes out as Matmat takes care of Mia, bringing her soup cooked by Nanay Li and medicine, thinking she’s just feeling unwell that’s why she won’t leave her room. He reminds her that she should listen to him because he’s her older brother, asking, “Ayaw mo na sa manong mo?” Mia breaks down even more, her pain spilling out in sobs that makes it so hard not to cry with her.
Mia apologizes to Matmat, so he tries to comfort her, but the more he does, the harder she cries like a child finally letting herself grieve. It must've been hard for Mia to take in the revelation about Ingrid following her father Samuel (Michael de Mesa)'s demise.
Wanting to make her smile, Matmat shares a piece of good news that he can now draw people’s faces. He proudly shows Mia his sketch of Patrick smiling, saying that’s how Patrick looked when he told Matmat he liked her which was the only time he’s ever seen Patrick genuinely happy.
Later that same day, Mia meets with Vincent (Enchong Dee) to tell him she won’t be pushing through with the next book they were supposed to publish. Patrick arrives at the mansion just in time to see Mia’s car leaving the gate. He runs after it desperately but she doesn’t even look back. Without Mia in the mansion, Patrick and Matmat head back to the compound, carrying their things including the dinosaur stuffed toy that Olivia (Maricel Laxa) and Eden (Agot Isidro) gave Matmat.
Patrick spends the entire afternoon calling Mia but not once does she pick up. Over at OK Hospital, the nurses start to worry as they also can't reach Eden, who, for the first time, is absent without notice.
