MANILA -- "Someone, Someday" star James Reid and OPM hitmaker Maki graced "It's Showtime" on Wednesday, August 5 to promote their song "luck."
Their collaboration single was released on all digital streaming platforms last week.
"Sa love kasi minsan swertehan 'di ba? Pero 'yung song is like an assurance telling that person, that someone na you can take a risk pero dapat sa akin, hindi ka matatalo," Maki said.
According to Maki, their collaboration was born after they did a tour in Canada last year.
"I'm a big fan of James Reid so sabi ko talaga this is the opportunity to tell him na this song is super bagay sa kanya. Ipinarinig ko ito nung tour sa kanya, tapos hindi ko naman alam na tatanggapin niya. Of course, this is James Reid, 'di ba? So super happy," Maki said.
For his part, Reid said he was the lucky one to have collaborated with Maki.
"Maki is one of the most talented young artists of the Philippines. And for me, actually sa song na ito ako ang lucky one. Thank you for having me," Reid said.
A blend of alternative and indie-pop influences, “luck” was released under Tarsier Records.
Maki co-wrote the song with international songwriters and producers Gaby Ramirez, Pontus Kalm, Greg Shilling, and Shintaro Yasuda, whose credits include collaborations with global acts such as Ariana Grande, BTS, LE SSERAFIM, aespa, and BINI.
The official music video of "luck," which was directed by Ingrid Ignacio-Termulo, has been uploaded on the YouTube channel of Tarsier Records.
After performing and promoting "luck," Maki and Reid were game in dancing Baby Dolls' "Oohh Lala Baby."
