Olivia Rodrigo released the second single off her upcoming album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl so in Love titled "The Cure" on Friday, May 22.
To mark the occasion, the Filipino-American singer penned a message on social media, expressing her gratitude to her co-creators.
"THE CURE SONG AND VIDEO IS OUT NOW!!!!! this song means so much to me and I’m so so so happy that it’s out in the world! Shout out to @dan_nigro for making it with me and being the best producer/songwriter in the game. thank u @bead.lizard and @catsolen for creating this brilliant, imaginative music video that I adore," she wrote on her Instagram page.
Olivia also shared why the track is special for her, sharing: "This song is the thesis statement of you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love and it made the whole album click for me. I hope you enjoy it."
Fans online were quick to react to the song.

"The Cure" is the follow up to the lead single "Drop Dead" from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl so in Love. The record is set to be released on June 12.

In a recent interview with British Vogue, the singer revealed that creating the album posed its own creative challenges, especially since she was in a happy relationship at the time.
"It was a creative challenge to write from a joyful place. When you’re experiencing that you’re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you’re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!" she stressed.
The singer also hinted that many of the songs lean toward "sad love songs," adding, "I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them."
