Filipino fans of GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams have fresh reason to campaign harder than ever, as the artist has just announced her third studio album, Daughter from Hell. And with a new era officially underway, the calls for a Manila stop on her upcoming tour have never been louder.
The excitement reached a new peak when Kapamilya actress and television host Anne Curtis publicly joined the online campaign to perform in the Philippines – a co-sign that sent the local fanbase into a frenzy and brought even wider attention to just how deeply Gracie has connected with Filipino audiences.
“What about Manila, Philippines?” Anne commented in one of Gracie’s posts, adding a sad emoji.
Anne Curtis is no stranger to being vocal about her love for music and the artists she supports, but her jumping into the Gracie Abrams Manila concert conversation carried particular weight.
With millions of followers across her social media platforms and a reputation as one of the most influential celebrities in the country, her voice added serious momentum to a campaign that Filipino fans have been pushing for over a year now.
The connection between Gracie Abrams and her Filipino fanbase did not happen overnight. Songs like "I Love You, I'm Sorry" and "That's So True" found a natural home in Filipino online spaces, soundtracking TikTok edits, hugot reels, and late-night Spotify sessions.
There is something about the way Gracie writes: painfully honest, emotionally unguarded, and specific in a way that still manages to feel universal. They resonate with Filipino listeners who have never been shy about feeling things deeply and publicly.
"That's So True," in particular, became something of a cultural moment locally. The song, which became Gracie's first Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hit and has surpassed 1.5 billion streams worldwide, dominated Filipino TikTok and playlist culture in a way that few foreign releases manage to do so thoroughly.
The announcement of Daughter from Hell, written and produced alongside Gracie's longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner, has given fans a new rallying point.
Lead single "Hit the Wall," released May 15, has already been making the rounds online, and the reception has only added fuel to the Manila concert campaign.
Gracie made her debut in 2019 and released her breakout EPs minor (2020) and This Is What It Feels Like (2021) before dropping her debut album Good Riddance in 2023, which earned her a GRAMMY nomination for Best New Artist.
That same year, she joined Taylor Swift as an opening act on select dates of the Eras Tour, which introduced her music to an even larger global audience, including a significant number of Filipino Swifties.
Her sophomore album, The Secret of Us (2024), then elevated her to a different level entirely, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and hitting No. 1 in the UK, Australia, and the Netherlands.
The record featured "Close to You," "us." featuring Taylor Swift, and "That's So True," the song that effectively made her a household name worldwide.
Outside of music, Gracie is a Chanel ambassador and is set to make her acting debut in the upcoming A24 film Please, directed by Halina Reijn.
Daughter from Hell arrives July 17. And if the Filipino fanbase has anything to say about it, a Manila concert announcement will not be far behind.
