MANILA -- Bugoy Drilon marks his music comeback with “Anthems,” an album that transforms his struggles and lived experiences into songs meant to become shared rallying cries for listeners carrying stories of their own.

“Nag-decide ako ilabas to, to tell my story. I want to tell my own story and the people around me. Gusto ko bigyan kwento nila ng justice at buhay,” he said in an interview held in Pasig City.

“Anthems” is Drilon’s first album since 2018, and his first release as an independent artist.

The Nine tracks, namely “Empty House,” “Favorite Season,” “One Call Away,” “Habang Buhay,” “Oras,” “Pilit Pinili,” “Natagpuan,” “Lahat ng Kailangan,” and “Kapit,” were co-written by Drilon.

“Medyo mahirap [independent] trust the process lang and keep doing the work. Hindi ko control mangyayari. Si God na iyon. Binigay ito sa akin ni God to share. Yung gift is meant to share,” he said.

The “Paano na Kaya” singer said among his goals in this new chapter of his career is to stage a solo concert.

“Kasi sabi ko 18 years na ako in the industry, wala ako masyadong solo concert. Kasi natatakot ako if may manood ba, may makikinig ba. Sana this year after the album magkaroon ako solo concert at tour,” he said.
