Singer-songwriter Jason Marvin took a step back from the limelight for quite some time. In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, he revealed that he had continued working on music despite taking a break.
“Actually, even doon sa hiatus ko, I didn't really stop sa music. I was still writing. Kasi yun yung nagiging outlet ko. So pag mag-isa ako sa kwarto, that's when I write songs,” he shared.
Jason Marvin, the ‘Ikaw at Ako’ hitmaker, added that he made the most of his time away by diving deeper into songwriting.
“I never stopped (my music) but I stopped performing. Pero ginamit ko yung two years na yun. Just writing, writing songs,” he explained.
Jason previously shared that taking time off and finding peace in El Nido, Palawan, helped him heal and reflect.
Now that he’s back and more active in the music scene, the singer-songwriter also opened up about the artists with whom he dreams of collaborating.
“Dream collab would be Ate Yeng (Constantino). One more, si Catriona (Gray). Kasi si Catriona, very magaling siya for jazz. Yung parang crooner na Frank Sinatra, pero girl (version). Eh, ako, old soul din ako. I think, perfect na pag mag-release siya ng (mga songs na) sobrang bagay sa kanya,” he said.
Jason shared that, aside from female artists, he’s also interested in working with male artists in future collaborations.
“Nasulatan ko na (ng kanta) si Kuya Erik Santos, yung ‘Ikaw Pa Rin.’ So, check na natin yun. Si Argee, (from) I Belong To The Zoo, we both wrote, ‘Patawad Paalam.’ So, when we wrote that, doon ko nakita na, solid yung chemistry ng songwriting namin. So, it would be nice pag magkasama kasi, di ba, si Argee is known rin sa mga heartbreak songs. So, it would be nice na pag-combine namin yung songwriting namin once again,” Jason explained.
In the past few months, Jason has been working on new music, including the releases ‘Bulong’ and ‘Panghahawakan’—both inspired by biblical characters. The singer-songwriter also previously shared that he is now focusing more on creating gospel songs.
