MANILA -- Kapamilya singer Jed Madela recently returned from Paris, France, where he performed for The Filipino Channel’s "Paskong Pinoy sa Paris."

Madela serenaded the Filipino community with a medley of beloved Christmas classics, including “Pasko Na Naman,” “Ang Pasko Ay Sumapit,” “Pasko Na, Sinta Ko,” “Kumukutikutitap” and more, bringing the festive spirit across continents and keeping the Pinoy holiday tradition alive abroad.

“I’m supposed to do just five songs but I ended up doing more, almost two hours, kasi sobrang saya. Christmas din, it’s my gift to our kababayans in Paris,” he said.

Because of the TFC event in Paris, Madela missed the Aliw Awards last Monday where he was one of the Lifetime Achievement awardees. But he heard about his co-awardee Zsa Zsa Padilla’s rant when she was not given the opportunity to speak and say her thank-you’s.

As soon as his plane landed, he exchanged messages with Padilla and said, “I feel sad as well, sabi ko. It’s a once in a lifetime thing, what more sa akin, I missed it and Zsa Zsa was there and not even five seconds na thank-you lang. There are two sides of the story, maybe they were pressed for time, for you to give recognition to somebody of this big of an award na kahit doon na lang.”

He also revealed that, “I sent an acceptance speech, before I left for Paris, I shot a video an acceptance speech and submitted it to Aliw, and they didn’t show it also.”

After expressing her frustrations, Padilla a decided to return her award from Aliw. Will Madela do the same?

“No, It’s something that I really treasure, something that I value as an artist,” he said.

"When I received the email a few months back, nanlamig ako. I didn’t know how to react. Kasi you know, normally if you say Lifetime Achievement award it’s more of the icons. Yung first na sinabi ko, ‘Am I that old?’. But when I look back, 20-plus years na rin naman ako sa industirya at Iilan na lang kami na naka-20-plus years sa batch namin. I think I did good, represented the country very well.”

Hours after Padilla's social media rant, the Aliw Awards Foundation issued an apology statement to the Divine Diva.
