Jugs Jugueta and the rest of The Itchyworms get to fulfill their destiny performing "Theme from Noon Time Show" on an actual noontime show! The song is the title track of their historic breakthrough 2005 concept album that wiill finally be launched on vinyl format this November 28.
"Hanggang dito na lang ba ang masa?" It's Showtime! co-host Jugs Jugueta and the rest of his band The Itchyworms got to check one item off their dream bucket list by doing a meta performance of "Theme from Noon Time Show" on the widely-popular noontime variety show.
The performance was in line with the upcoming launch of the 20th Anniversary vinyl format edition of their historic breakthrough 2005 concept album that wiill finally be launched on vinyl format this November 28. The Filipino pop-rock act will be celebrating two decades of their seminal second studio album with a limited edition double vinyl release via Backspacer Records. The album features the hits and long-time 'Worms faves “Beer,” “Akin Ka Na Lang,” and “Love Team.” The latter features then fast-rising love tandem Kimerald - Kim Chiu and Gerard Anderson.
The track co-written by the band more than twenty years ago is a commentary on the tropes that used to permeate noontime and variety shows dating back from as early as the 80's. Musically, it has all the elements of an iconic noontime show opening theme down pat: the bright musical notes, the hyper jovial tone and the bongga pasabog lyrics that superficially speak of family, community and tropa. While the modern iteration of these shows have since been harnessed and reshaped for more contemporary sensibilities, traces of these tropes are still well within the DNA of Philippine television. The Noon Time Show album was recorded by original members Jugueta, Jazz Nicolas, Kelvin Yu, and Chino Singson. The latter has since migrated to Canada while the band has added guitarist Weckl Mercado and multi-instrumentalist Michael Vargas to their lineup. Co-produced by the band with the Eraserheads rhythm section of Buddy Zabala and Raimund Marasigan, the album stands the test of time not just because of its hits and cult favorites, but it's commentary on Philippine television, music and pop culture. The concept album runs like a typical noontime show episode mcomplete with hosts, production numbers, love teams, game show skits, commercials and a celebrity stalker song, among other tropes.
The album is punctuated by the closing track "Production Number" which features hidden cameos from the likes of indie band scene personalities such as Echo Singson and director Marie Jamora of Boldstar, Marasigan, Trici and Peavey Nicolas, concert musical director Chino David, Myrene Academia of <S>andwich/Imago, Gab Cheekee of Parokya Ni Edgar, Kris Gorra-Dancel of Cambio, Joey Odulio of Twisted Halo, Jenny de Dios, Voltaire Bohol, Jason Caballa of Pedicab and Cheats, Francis Reyes of The Dawn, then band manager Kerwin Rosete, Tanaka, Vin Dancel of Twisted Halo and Peryodiko, former Imago frontwoman Aia de Leon, and Ebe Dancel. The song runs like your typical musical variety show chopsuey medley, with parodies of teenybopper actors moonlighting as singers, ace showbands, the Masculados, and - of course, duh - the Sex Bomb Girls (The Bembang Bebots!), among others, before it full circles back to "Theme from Noontime Show". The most notable turn here belongs to Itchyworms drummer Jazz Nicolas, who becomes Rodel "Jukebox"Rodrigo, a tribute to the likes of April Boy Regino. RATING: 5 STARS.

For the first time ever, The Itchyworms’ Noon Time Show 2-LP is pressed on transparent light violet and transparent red vinyl. It was remastered for vinyl by Shinji Tanaka at Kodama Studio using the original track recordings.

In semi-related news the multi-awarded Filipino pop-rock outfit are set to bring their widely celebrated Akin Ka Na Lang tour to Dubai and Abu Dhabi this January 2026. Marking their highly anticipated return to the Middle East after more than a decade, the "Love Team" act will be performing some of their greatest hits and rarities at the Pakistan Auditorium in Dubai and at New Bar, Arkadia in Abu Dhabi on January 17 and 18, respectively.
The two-city run aims to rekindle the band’s connection with their overseas Filipino audience, and at the same time, bring full circle moment in a journey that started in the region decades ago.
“Our first-ever out of the country tour was in Dubai and Abu Dhabi way back in 2007,” the band shares. “We’ve been back a few times since, but our last UAE show was in 2014. We are so excited to fly back and perform for our kababayan out there!”
For The Itchyworms, returning to the Middle East is both nostalgic and momentous. Since their last performance in the region, the band has continued to evolve musically, perform on international stages, and expand their iconic catalog while remaining anchored in the melodic pop-rock DNA that fans love.

Known for their contagious energy and famously interactive live shows, The Itchyworms are poised to take overseas audiences “home” even if just for a few hours. Fans can also expect a powerhouse setlist composed of chart-toppers, deep cuts, crowd favorites, and few surprises sprinkled in.
“Our out-of-country sets are highly interactive,” admits the award-winning band. “Sometimes, we end up playing for 2.5 or even 3 hours. We always make it a point to bring back our kababayan to the Philippines, even for just a short time.”
Beyond the music, the trip provides an opportunity for the band to reconnect with the region’s culture and people. The Itchyworms are especially eager to explore the rapidly-changing cityscapes, particularly Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa.
“It’s been 12 years since out last performance in Middle East,” The Itchyworms admit. “Aside from the yummy food, we’re very excited to see Burj Khalifa up close. It wasn’t even built yet when we were last there.”
