MANILA — The inaugural Filipino Music Awards gathered the best of OPM acts in the country today from the eight-member group BINI, to the Kings of P-Pop SB19, Cup of Joe, the recently-reunited IV of Spades, Ben&Ben, Maki, BGYO and more.
The red carpet glistened with some of the brightest stars like KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde, Angeline Quinto, Morissette, Erik Santos, Michelle Dee, Arthur Nery, Jericho Rosales and Janine Gutierrez.
But the highlight of the event are some of the big awards given that night. The awards were grouped into four: the Genre Awards, People's Choice, Legacy Award and the Grand Award.
The event host, Joey Mead-King, explained the mechanics of the nominations, selection and the jury process.
A pool of 600 nominations were received and after the extensive screening of FMA Jury, winners were chosen and confidentially audited by FMA's auditing partner SGV and Co.

Genre Awards:
- Pop Song of the Year - Dungka! by SB19
- Alternative Song of the Year - ZILD's 'I.N.A.S.'
- Rock song of the Year - IV of Spades' 'Aura' Folk song of the Year - 'Sampung mga Daliri' by Dwta and Justin
- Hiphop song of the year - 'Gubat na Siyudad' by Morobeats
- R&B song of the year - Dionela's 'Marilag'
People's Choice Awards:
- People's Choice Award for Artist - SB19
- People's Choice Song Award - SB19's 'Dungka!'
- People's Choice Award for International Artist - JHope
Legacy Awards:
- Tribute Award - Pilita Corales
- Music Foundation of the Year - Ang Misyon Orchestra of the Filipino Youth
- Lifetime Achievement Award - Jose Mari Chan
Grand awards:
- Album of the year - Silakbo by Cup of Joe
- Artist of the year - SB19
- Song of the year - 'Multo' by Cup of Joe
- Music company of the year - Sony Music Philippines
- Concert of the year - SB19: Simula at Wakas
- Tour of the year - SB19: Simula at Wakas
Ely Buendia, Lolita Carbon, Yeng Constantino, Gloc 9, BGYO, BINI, SB19, Maki and Cup of Joe fired up the stage with performance of their current hits.
