Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition Big Winner Mika Salamanca has announced that she is postponing the release of her long-awaited debut album to next year.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN during her launch as the first celebrity ambassador of local perfume brand J Spray, Mika shared that although she and her team initially planned to release the album before the year ends, she decided to delay it to maintain the quality of her songs.

Mika emphasized that she wants her songs to have lasting meaning, way beyond her current popularity.

“Kasi po in the future na — okay, today ko po siya ilalabas na, ngayon na matutuwa ang mga tao sa kanta na ilalabas ko — pero po in the next 5 years, kapag hindi na ako mahal ng mga tao, mamahalin pa rin ba nila ‘yung mga kanta ko?” she asked.

Mika emphasized her desire to produce music that will stand the test of time. “Ayon po ‘yung gusto ko talaga, kasi song is a history kaya gusto ko po na gawin siya na hindi minamadali at na walang time pressure.”

The singer also revealed that her hectic schedule has affected her vocal condition, which contributed to the decision to pause the album’s production.

“Also po, sobrang dami ko na rin pong work (lately) kaya ‘yung boses ko po nagsuffer na lang din po, kaya hindi ko po maibigay ‘yung perfect and best quality (ng voice ko) para sa mga kanta. Actually po, this week lang po namin na-decide iyon na kailangan po naming i-pause muna ‘yung paggawa ng album,” she said.

Despite the delay, Mika remains deeply involved in the songwriting process, taking time to draw inspiration from her personal experiences.

“I’m writing the songs for it and collecting the memories and experiences to add to it. Ang maganda rin po kasi doon, hindi ko rin minadali ‘yung pagsulat ko and mga nakukuha ko sa pagkanta,” she told PUSH ABS-CBN.

Last July, Star Music revealed that Mika had visited the ABS-CBN office to discuss her upcoming album under the Kapamilya network’s music label.

The upcoming album marks a special milestone for Mika, as becoming a singer has always been one of her biggest dreams. She previously expressed her excitement and gratitude on social media, sharing how her long wait and hard work are finally paying off, and that everything is happening at the right time.

“It will all make sense one day, take it easy,” Mika posted on her X account.

Star Music also looked back on Mika’s journey, posting a throwback photo of her first-ever meeting with the ABS-CBN Music team two years ago alongside her recent visit to finalize album plans.

“Mika liit is so proud of you! It's finally happening! watch out for her album soon! 🥹 #MikaSalamanca #StarMusicPH #ABSCBNMusic.”

In her reply to the post, Mika hinted at a long-awaited moment finally coming to life: “been cooking something for 2 years, it make sense now kung bakit laging hindi natutuloy. God’s perfect timing ✨.”

Last September, Mika released “What If Tayo?” with her PBB Collab duo and fellow Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition Big Winner Brent Manalo, a song that explores the “what if” between close friends.

The track follows her debut single, “Sino Nga Ba Siya,” which garnered over one million streams on Spotify and topped the iTunes charts in the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.
