Netflix has released the official trailer for the upcoming film 18th Rose, starring Xyriel Manabat and Kyle Echarri.
In the movie, Xyriel portrays Rose, a determined young woman who dreams of having a memorable 18th debut celebration. Kyle plays Jordan, who becomes unexpectedly involved in helping her make that dream come true. The story is set in early 2000s in the province of Romblon.
In the trailer, Rose strikes a deal with Jordan. In exchange for his help in organizing her long-awaited debut party, she agrees to help him communicate with his dad.
"Pinag-iipunan ko kasi 'yung debut ko. That's every Filipina's dream. Magso-slow mo habang sinasayaw ako ng escort ko," Rose says in one scene, explaining how much the celebration means to her.
We see them both growing closer that towards the end of the trailer, Jordan tells Rose: "Dreams can wait for another day. But you only turn 18 once. And I wouldn't miss that for the world."
Fans online were quick to react to the trailer.
"The unexpected chemistry between these two is MAGICAL!" one fan wrote.
"Good actress and good actor equals to absolute chemistry," another fan commented.
18th Rose is set to premiere on Netflix on April 9. This marks the first leading role of Xyriel in a movie.
"It's not just a dream come true, it's an answered prayer. I'm very grateful to those who have trusted me," she said about bagging her first movie lead role at a recent press conference hosted by Netflix.

Reflecting on working with Kyle in the film, Xyriel said: "Kyle and I have known each other for a very long time. We've been friends since 2015, 2016. The first few days [of filming] we're just joking around. We even went to a chemistry workshop but ended up laughing the whole day."
She went on: "Our friendship and Rose and Jordan's friendship have similarities in some way, very young and playful."
