As one of the actresses most recognizable for her horrifying roles in Shake, Rattle, & Roll, Manilyn Reynes finally returns to the iconic Pinoy horror movie franchise this year as part of the cast of the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival confirmed official entry. During the cast reveal for the third episode of Shake, Rattle, & Roll: Evil Origins which also stars Richard Gutierrez and Ivana Alawi, Manilyn shared how she felt coming back to doing a horror film after almost two decades.
During the film’s story conference, Manilyn shared how she felt being reunited with Richard Gutierrez in a movie. The two first worked together in the 1990 film Feel Na Feel when Manilyn was a teenager and Richard was just six years old.
“Sobrang thrilled ako na makatrabaho ang mga kabataan at ang bata noon na ang laki na ngayon. Sobrang bata pa (laughs). Sabi nga ni tita Annabelle (Rama) kanina, ‘First time niyo ba ni Richard magkatrabaho?’ Sabi ko, ‘Hindi tita, first time nung maliit siya. Ngayon, malaki na siya. Ako na ang maliit!’ (laughs) But anyway, I’m super excited to work with him, and direk, and sa lahat. Thank you so much for this project. Super excited ako and thrilled ako. Ready na ako ma-shake, ma-rattle, and roll ulit,” she said.
Known for her most unforgettable roles in SRR episodes like "Aswang" (1990) and "Nanay" (1991), and "LRT" (2006), Manilyn could not be any more grateful to be handpicked for her latest role in the MMFF film. She was just 18 years old when she first worked on an SRR episode.
“Ang last Shake, Rattle, & Roll episode ko was LRT which was the 8th one. So I was in SRR 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8. So ito yung sixth SRR ko. Maraming salamat at excited talaga akong gawin ito kasama ang mga kabataan at ang mga familiar faces na malapit sa puso ko. Alam niyo naman ang Shake, Rattle, & Roll ay talagang malapit sa puso ko. Alam ni ate Roselle (Monteverde) yun,” she shared.

When she was first contacted by Regal Entertainment to join the project, Manilyn revealed how fast she made the decision to be part of the country’s most long-running horror film franchise.
“Sobrang na-thrill talaga ako. Actually, nakalimutan ko nga magpa-nail polish. Oo, hindi ko naalala (laughs). But really, nung tinawag nila at nag-set kami ng Zoom meeting para ma-i-present yung role, parang nung sinabing Shake, Rattle, & Roll, yes na. And then lalo na nung marinig namin yung kuwento, nung malaman namin yung magiging role ko, at yung mga kasama ko. So nakaka-excite kasi after a long time din naman na hindi ako nag-Shake, Rattle, & Roll, eto na yun,” she said.
