On screen couple Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin revealed the reason they both agreed to do their latest film, Ex Ex Lovers. In a recent podcast interview with Bianca Gonzalez, the two shared how they took into consideration the fans of their love team and wanted to relive the '90s.
Ex Ex Lovers is Jolina and Marvin’s movie comeback after more than two decades.

“Nadoon yung kilig, that vibe that would want our audience our fans lalo na yung lumaki nung '90s. They’re actually looking for this kind of vibe–– yung masaya lang na pelikula, very light,” Marvin shared.
The two then credited directors JP Habac, Antoinette Jadaone, and Dan Villegas for making their vision come to reality.
“At the same time since yung mga katrabaho namin mga batang magagaling, in touch with sa kanilang feelings and emotions–– sina Tonet, JP, Dan–– nalagyan nilang ng magandang flavor yung romcom na '90s na gustong panoorin ng mga tao into a, I would say, may lalim, sensible, at napapanahon sa generation na 'to,” Marvin said.
“Thankful kami na sila direk Tonet at direk JP ay binigyan din tayo ng chance iparamdam pa rin yung nostalgic na love na kinalakihan ng mga manonood na '90s. Hindi lang talaga sila yung 'ito na yun eh' kasi talagang na miss talaga natin yung ganun feeling dati na ang sarap lang mag mahal, nakakatawa lang, away aso’t pusa,” Jolina added.
Jolina then shared that they didn’t want to do anything cringey or heavy as it isn’t what they envisioned their comeback film to look like. Marvin then revealed that the first script of the film was on the more dramatic side which they didn’t see fitting their concept.
“Nafeel namin na hindi kami yun at parang maganda yung storya at eksena but it’s something our audience for a comeback movie na namiss ng matagal na, I don’t think ayun yung napipicture nila na ginagawa namin,” he revealed.

Despite the feel-good story, both Jolina and Marvin agreed that there are many more lessons that fans can take home after watching their film. Jolina also shared how maturity played a huge part in the film which the viewers would also see.
Ex Ex Lovers is now showing in cinemas nationwide and is directed by JP Habac and produced by Antoinette Jadaone and Dan Villegas. Apart from Jolina and Marvin, it also stars Kapamilya stars Loisa Andalio and JK Labajo.
