Piolo Pascual shared how stepping into film producing has given him a deeper appreciation for his craft.

In an interview with Bianca Gonzalez on TFC’s BRGY, Piolo shared that becoming a producer has made him a better actor.

"It affected me in totality as an entertainer and as a performer because it made me appreciate cinema even better. It made me become more disciplined and nagkaroon ako ng compassion dun sa trabaho ko because it's not just your time, money, and effort put in together so mas nagkaroon ako ng passion to create more substantial roles, relevant stories that people could relate with," he remarked.

He added that becoming a producer sparked a renewed drive to help shape meaningful narratives.

"Nagkaroon ako ng panibagong, I guess, energy or urge to because people come up to you, they present, they pitch concepts but of course you need to make sure that what you are doing... is not something that you are not gonna be proud of so every time we make a film we want to make sure na iba, it's different, bordering to being edgy, but still watchable and entertaining," he said.

Piolo is the co-founder of Spring Films alongside director Joyce Bernal and Cornerstone Entertainment's Erickson Raymundo.

The actor also noted that producing has made him more hands-on in developing the characters he plays. "Ang sarap ng process ng pag-create ng character and I take it upon myself to not do something that I have [already] done before, to choose roles that would help me challenge my artistry and at the same time make sure na entertaining 'yung gagawin mo," he stated.

Piolo is currently starring in Star Cinema's Meet, Greet & Bye alongside Maricel Soriano, Joshua Garcia, Belle Mariano, and Juan Karlos.

The film marked the actor's return to Star Cinema, eight years since his last movie with the film outfit.

"It's nice to be back, your first love, your first family, and of course, ABS-CBN and Star Cinema, for that matter. Ang sarap nung pakiramdam na uuwi ka sa pamilya talaga na nagpalaki sa’yo, na nagbigay sa'yo ng break, [and] at the same time ang sarap ng pakiramdam na nakabuo ka ng isang pamilya within the shoot," he said in a previous interview.
