Taylor Swift has once again scored a box office hit, this time with The Official Release Party of a Showgirl.
According to a report by PEOPLE, the special event earned ₱2.67 billion or $46 million in the global box office.
The Official Release Party of a Showgirl was released in theaters from October 3 to 5. It featured the "world premiere of the music video, 'The Fate of Ophelia,' along with behind-the-scenes footage from the music video shoot, brand new lyric videos, and Taylor’s never-before-seen personal reflections on songs from her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl," as per AMC Theaters website.
Following its premiere in theaters, Taylor released the music video for "The Fate of Ophelia" on YouTube on Monday, October 6 (PH time).
On her Instagram page, the global pop star looked back on the journey of creating the music video.
"Writing, rehearsing, directing, and shooting the music video for 'The Fate of Ophelia' was the thrill of a lifetime because I got to be reunited with my Eras Tour family!!" she posted.
The singer shared that she wanted to recreate the feeling of being on tour through the collaboration.
"I wanted each one-take scene to feel like a live performance and remind us all of how it felt to be at those shows together. Making every moment count. It's a journey through the chaotic world of show business. I loved working with @rpstam, @ethantobman and @nopenother to dream up these visuals. A huge thank you to this massive cast who kept it 💯 and also kept the secret of this video even existing. It’s out on YouTube NOW!" she remarked.
The Life of a Showgirl is Taylor's 12th studio album and was released on Friday, October 3.
In an interview on the New Heights podcast in August, the global pop star relayed that the album tells the story of her life offstage.
"This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during [the Eras] tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant," she said. "It just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, and so that effervescence has come through on this record."
The singer shared that she created the album alongside music producers Max Martin and Shellback whom she considers her mentors.
"We've never actually made an album before where it's just the three of us. There's no other collaborators. It's just the three of us making a focused album were it felt like catching lightning in a bottle," she said. "These guys, they are just geniuses in different avenues, in different ways."
