Netflix original film Kontrabida Academy has continued to make waves, still holding a spot in the Top 10 movies on the streaming platform weeks after its release.
During Bench Fashion Week, PUSH ABS-CBN had the chance to exclusively chat with one of the film’s main cast members, Jameson Blake.
“I'm really happy. I just want to say thank you to everybody who watched Kontrabida Academy. We had so much fun shooting that film. Na-enjoy namin yun,” he said.
The Kapamilya leading man also shared that even while filming, they already felt the project was going to turn out well because everyone gave their best.
“Alam namin na it was going to be a hit. So I'm just happy na nangyayari siya ngayon. Everybody gets to watch a masterpiece ni Direk Chris Martinez. And everyone in the cast did an amazing job. So I'm just happy now it's out and more people are going to be able to watch it. So please, everyone who hasn't watched the Kontrabida Academy, watch it,” he mentioned.
This time, Jameson takes a break from playing the kontrabida and reacts to the “kilig” reactions he received for his role as Arnaldo, a witty spin on the classic leading man.
“Well kasi, yun yung role talaga. They had to find someone na Prince Charming daw. Siguro. I'm just very thankful na tinanggap ko yung project na yan. I would regret it if I didn't accept it. So I'm just really happy na to be part of an iconic film like this,” he shared.
In Kontrabida Academy, Jameson plays a character who becomes vital to the journey of Gigi/Gia, portrayed by Barbie Forteza. The story follows a restaurant worker who gets transported into a fictional world where she must train to become the ultimate kontrabida, finding a new sense of purpose—and a way to get back at her enemies.
The cast also features Eugene Domingo, Xyriel Manabat, Ysabel Ortega, and Michael De Mesa, and even boasts cameos from some of the country’s most iconic kontrabidas including Gladys Reyes, Jean Garcia, Dimples Romana, Odette Khan, Rez Cortez, and Baron Geisler.
Meanwhile, Jameson also shared what’s next for him following the success of the film.
“Right now I'm doing a series ‘What Lies Beneath.’ It's going to be showing on Netflix with Janella Salvador and Kaila Estrada and many more. I hope you guys get to watch that soon, What Lies Beneath. Yun lang muna,” he teased.
Aside from the much-awaited thriller series, Jameson shared that he’s also working on a few upcoming projects that have yet to be announced.
“I'm currently also doing something else in the works pero I can't announce it yet. But, yeah, just follow my social media accounts for more updates,” he said.
