From iWant’s "Ghosting" to a different kind of "ghost" project, Kapamilya onscreen tandem JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith will topbill Regal Entertainment’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry "Shake Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins" this Christmas.

This will be their first time to be part of the annual movie festival and both are looking forward to participating in all of MMFF’s promos and the highly anticipated Parade of Stars.

While "Ghosting" was more on the romantic comedy side, "Shake Rattle and Roll" goes deep into the jumpscare and hair-raising horror scenes.

Both admitted that horror is a challenging genre to portray and they had to make some adjustments.

“Sobra akong na-challenge din lalo na hindi ako nanonood ng horror, hindi rin po ako matatakutin, so nilaan ko po 'yung oras ko doon sa character ko, mas in-improve ko 'yung character ko para doon sa mga nuances,” Ibarra said.

“Noong una, nagkakahiyaan pa, nagkakapaan pa,” Smith admitted.

“Hanggang sa unti-unti nafi-feel mo na 'yung gulat at takot, bago mag-action nakatakbo ka na,” he added.

Smith also mentioned that they had to undergo training to prep them in scenes that involve some stunts.

“Nag-aral kami ng stunts, kung paano ibalibag ng kama, required siya for safety. Nung ginawa namin ito for 'SRR,' thank God wala namang nabalian or anything,” she said.

And since this is their first horror outing, they had to delve deep into their characters like Smith who hinted that she’ll be playing a DJ.

“Nag-aral ako kung paano mag-DJ, nag-aral ako kung paano mag-transition ng one song to another. Pinag-aralan ko kung paano maglagay ng music,” she said.

They also rewatched past ‘Shake Rattle and Roll’ movies to get the vibe of the film franchise that has been running for decades in MMFF’s history.

"Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins" will be shown in cinemas on December 25.
