Korean girl group ITZY is excited for the Manila leg of their "Tunnel Vision" concert this July 11.
“It’s been such a long time since we last visited Manila, so we’re really, really happy to finally see our Manila fans again through the 'Tunnel Vision' concert. We’re all so excited and really looking forward to the show,” said leader Yeji.
Manila is a meaningful city for the girls. During the early days of their group, ITZY visited Manila and was warmly welcomed by their Filipino fans.
“Ever since our debut, we've always had such great memories whenever we've visited Manila because our MIDZYs there always welcomed us so warmly. I still vividly remember the passion of everyone singing along with our songs, and it makes me even more excited for this time as well,” vocalist Lia said.
Filipino fans are exceptional, added Ryujin. “I think Manila has a unique and powerful energy of its own. It gives us strength when we're on stage, and that’s something I’m really excited about and looking forward to.”
While differences in language can be a barrier, Yeji believes that music is universal and can bond ITZY with their fans, who they fondly call MIDZY.
“Even though we don’t speak the same language, I’ve really felt that we can truly give each other strength through our energy and connection just by being together in the same space. I also want to sincerely thank our MIDZY for always sending us so much love and support from afar.”
Aside from their excitement to perform again in Manila, ITZY shared some of the challenges during touring. It can be physically demanding, but “I think we get a lot of energy from seeing our MIDZY. And personally, I try to make sure I eat well and take good care of myself,” Ryujin said.
Yuna added, “There are times when touring can be physically demanding, but being able to meet MIDZYs from all around the world and spend special moments together is the best part of touring. It's so much fun.”
