MANILA -- OPM icon Regine Velasquez announced that she will be having her "final major solo concert" this October aptly billed "FINALE."
Velasquez made the announcement on Friday, May 1, through a social media post.
The music event is set to happen on October 17 and October 18 (Saturday and Sunday) at SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Other details of the show have yet to be released.
In a previous interview with Billboad Philippines, Velasquez, who is celebrating her 40th in the entertainment industry this year, said that she will be having her last big concert this year to celebrate her four decades in the music industry.
"Although I still have some projects next year, but this will be my last big solo concert. ... I still have mga projects next year and then eventually I retire... Sabi ng asawa ko retirement means naman not really stopping altogether. It means doing whatever it is that you wanna do, but it will free me from 'yung pressure of trying to please everyone," she said.
Regine Velasquez is Billboard PH's Woman of the Year
Velasquez rose to fame in the mid-‘80s when she won in singing competitions both here (“Ang Bagong Kampeon”) and on the world stage (Asia Pacific Song Contest), hence the moniker.
Known for her repertoire of soaring ballads, and her wide vocal range and technique, Velasquez is considered a music icon, with over a dozen platinum-selling albums and awards to her name.
As a singing champion at age 14, Velasquez has also helped rear the careers of the likes of Sarah Geronimo and Rachelle Ann Go, both celebrated performers who earned their start in showbiz via singing contests hosted by their “idol.”
Apart from singing, Velasquez is also known for her acting and hosting projects, including ABS-CBN's "ASAP."
