“Thankful Tiffany.”
This is how Girls’ Generation Tiffany Young described her recently concluded Here For You fan concert tour, which wrapped up with a heartwarming Manila stop last July 27 at Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier in Taguig City.
The Girls’ Generation member was all smiles as she finally reunited with her Filipino SONEs and Young Ones, nearly five years since her last visit.
“I can’t believe it’s been five years although you know there’s been a lot of things going on and a lot of change personally, professionally, socially. It’s been so long but I think the last time we have been together we had such an amazing moment and connection I hope to bring today just as special,” she expressed.
“Words can’t describe how I feel. It feels so special and so magical. It feels like home but it also feels very new. I think I’m just very grateful for your love and time. I can’t think of anything else but I only feel gratitude like I’m just so thankful to be here for you. This tour was to really really see you guys and have a good time so I’m just thankful.” she stated.
Tiffany opened the show with Girls’ Generation’s “Light Up the Sky,” immediately setting an emotional tone for the evening. She followed it with a fan interaction segment she personally created, called Kind Tiffany Young, where she read fan-submitted wishes and shared heartfelt stories.
Fans were delighted as Tiffany reflected on how they love hearing her speak English—especially when she sounds “spicy.”
“The difference in Korean, I’m very polite but in some countries, like Young Ones, especially here in Manila, they like the spicy (version of me). When I’m, like, speaking in English, I know I can get a little spicy,” she shared.
One of the night’s highlights was her a cappella rendition of Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All,” a song Tiffany said has been a life anthem for her, especially now that she’s entering a new chapter in her life.
“Whitney Houston’s ‘Greatest Love of All’ is like kind of also a big anthem in my life. Coming back at 35 very strong so I think of performing it in Here For You,” Tiffany explained. “It's such an important song for me growing up and it feels even more relevant as I’m getting older. I rather sing that song for you because that song reflects my life right now.”
Adding more excitement to the night, Tiffany surprised two lucky fans with sweet “love confessions,” one of whom received a green ring she had worn.
Tiffany also addressed fans’ hopeful questions about a Girls’ Generation world tour and new music.
“I’m always ready for a great time. I will be seeing them next week so I will be asking them,” Tiffany said, referring to their annual get together on her birthday week and debut anniversary this August.
She fondly recalled her most memorable birthday, her 18th, which coincided with the group’s debut year.
“I think the most memorable birthday would have to be my 18th birthday because I got to meet you for the first time. It was the year of our debut so I got to met the fans and I got to kind of really live up my dreams. I will never forget that one because that started the family I have with you and the Girls’ Generation,” she remarked.
For this year, she’s planning a chill Breakfast at Tiffany’s-themed celebration with friends and family.
“I organized the party for some reason so I think I’m having a birthday week meeting ith the friends, family or the team. (For this year), I like to keep it calm and chill so this year’s theme is birthday and breakfast so we are wearing sweats and sunglasses.”
Tiffany’s playful and very competitive side came out during fan games, where winners earned selfies and signed posters.
She also gave a glimpse of her musical theater roots with performances of “Fly Me To The Moon” and “All That Jazz”, a glimpse of what she had been doing portraying the role of Roxie Hart in the musical play Chicago.
Bringing the energy up, she performed her solo hit “I Just Wanna Dance” and Girls’ Generation’s feel-good track “PARTY,” getting fans on their feet.
“I just feel so happy see you guys sing, dancing, watching you guys have fun,” Tiffany said as fans sang and danced along with her.
For the first time on a Philippine stage, she performed “Lucky Like That” and “FOREVER 1,” both from Girls’ Generation’s most recent album.
“I’m lucky to have you and that song is really dedicated to you. ‘Lucky Like That’ was such a special song. I just wanted to sing this song for you. Thank you for making me feel so lucky all the time when I’m here,” she expressed. “I don’t want this to end. I’m down (to not go home).”
As the concert drew to a close, Tiffany became emotional reflecting on the journey of her Here For You tour, which began in Vietnam and ended in Manila.
“Here For You has started in Vietnam and ending it here today in Manila. You know I like keep things in a pretty tight schedule because you know just like the lyrics, every goodbye is just a hello,” she stated. “As I was watching the Here for You (VTR), this concert tour has really changed me. I'm so much brighter, thanks to you. At 36, she’s just brighter.”
Tiffany also promised to work on new music and a new stage she can share with fans again soon.
“Music is just always part of me and us and I'm thankful. As long as there’s a stage, as long as there’s you guys and I will always try to be here and come back,” she added. “I’m just really grateful that you are here. I’m excited and happy to meet you in any shape or form so don’t be afraid to meet me in a new shape and form.”
Before saying goodbye, Tiffany performed an emotional version of “Into the New World,” Girls’ Generation’s debut track. Fans then surprised her with a birthday cake and a touching fan video.
“I’m so overwhelmed right now. Bumalik na ako,” she stated.
Tiffany also confirmed she’s working on new music and performances, promising to return soon.
“Not 5 years. Really. I’ll make sure that it will not take 5 years (again to come back here). Thank you so much. I don’t know why but I’m really really excited. This whole Here For You fan concert tour, I feel like I owe you music and watching and being here for you and I know you guys have so much to say,” she continued. “I promise that it won’t take 5 years again. Thank you and I love you.”
