MANILA (UPDATE) — Filipino K-pop and K-drama fans are in for a jam-packed August, as a slew of stars head to the country for around 16 concerts and fan meetings scheduled throughout the month.
On August 2, four events will simultaneously take place, including the Manila stop of award-winning actor Ju Ji-hoon’s "Juniverse" fan meeting tour at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
It marks the first time that the 43-year-old actor — who has charmed K-drama audiences through shows such as "Princess Hours," "Kingdom," "Love Your Enemy," and "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" — will hold a fan meeting in the country.
On the same day, "The Good Bad Mother" star Lee Do-hyun, who reemerges from his mandatory military service break, will also be meeting his Filipino fans through "Re ▶ DO HYUN" fan meet at the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City.
At the Mall of Asia Arena, K-pop girl group Le Sserafim will mount their first-ever solo concert in the country as part of their "Easy Crazy Hot" tour. Meanwhile, singer Rocky, a former member of the boy group Astro, will take the stage at the SM North EDSA Skydome for his "Fill In The Blank" fan concert.
On August 6, K-drama soundtracks will fill the Mall of Asia Arena through KOSTCON, featuring a lineup of acclaimed vocalists including Chen of EXO, Lee Mujin, Soyou, Heize, K.Will, Kim Bum-soo and Lyn.
"Crash Landing On You" star Hyun Bin is set to arrive in the Philippine capital on August 8 for a special meet-and-greet event hosted by Solaire Resort, with fans selected through a raffle promo.
Girl group UNIS, whose members include Filipino talents Elisia and Gehlee, is also returning to the country for a fan concert at the New Frontier Theater on August 9.
EXO star Doh Kyung-soo is set to wow his Filipino fans once again with his inimitable vocals through his "Do It!" concert, happening at the Mall of Asia Arena on August 16. His return comes nearly a year after his two-day fan concert at the Araneta Coliseum.
Also on August 16, K-pop boy group NTX will hold a mall show at Robinsons Galleria.
On August 22, K-drama heartthtrob Park Bo-gum — whose recent works include the hit "When Life Gives You Tangerines" and "Good Boy" — will reunite with his Filipino supporters via his "Be With You" fan meeting at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Veteran K-pop boy band Highlight, formerly known as Beast, will take the stage of the New Frontier Theater on August 23 for their "Ride or Die" concert.
Yoon Sanha, a member of boy group Astro, is also heading to the country for his "Prism: From Y to A" fan concert, which will take place at the SM North EDSA Skydome on August 24.
On August 25, Jang Dong-woo, who rose to fame as a member of the boy band Infinite, will hold his "Connection" fan concert at the SM North Edsa Skydome.
Three events are set to close out the month, including the Manila leg of soloist B.I's "The Last Parade Tour" at the SM North Edsa Skydome on August 30.
Boy group AHOF, whose members include Filipino singer JL Gapsar, will also visit the country for a fan concert at the Araneta Coliseum on August 30.
Meanwhile, the cast of the musical adaptation of the hit Korean drama "Dream High" will perform the Korea Travel Fiesta at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on August 30 and 31. They include K-pop veteran Seven (Se7en), Kim Dong-jun of ZE:A, Lim Se-jun of Victon, former Wonder Girls member Sunye and musical actor Kim Da-hyun.
Kim Myung-soo of Infinite has also been announced as a special guest performer at the travel event.
