Australian indie rock band Last Dinosaurs brought their live concert to Manila last Sunday, December 8, at Skydome in SM North Edsa, Quezon City.
The show kicked off with Filipino band Oh, Flamingo! as the opening act.
“Gusto lang namin ikuwento na sobrang big deal lang ng Last Dinosaurs sa buhay namin as Oh,Flamingo! In fact, noong wala pa kaming enough songs to play, isa sa mga tinutugtog namin is Last Dinosaurs,” guitarist Pappu de Leon expressed.
Vocalist and guitarist Howard Luistro added, “We are so happy that we are playing, we are opening for the Last Dinosaurs. We are happy that they come back here often. (This is their) fourth time.”
Oh, Flamingo! performed their hits, including "Inconsistencies" and "June," before the crowd went wild as Last Dinosaurs finally took the stage.
The band, consisting of Sean Caskey, Lachlan Caskey, and Michael Sloane, opened with the song "Afterlife."
“What’s up, Manila!” Sean greeted. “It’s so good to be back again. It is an honor to bring this stage to Manila.”
Filipino Dinos also vibed on to the band’s hit songs including, “Keys to Your Civic,” “FMU,” “Shallow Boy,” “Forget About,” and “Elton.”
A surprise collaboration stage was one of the show’s highlights as Last Dinosaurs performed the alternate version of their song “Sense” with Billie Dela Paz of Oh, Flamingo!
The song is a collaboration between the Last Dinosaurs and the Filipino band where they incorporated Filipino words in the song. It also marked the first live performance of the two bands.
“Thank you so much, Oh, Flamingo! for joining us,” Sean expressed.

The band also dedicated their song “Beaux-Mont” to their long-time fans. “This goes out to all our OG fans out there tonight,” they declared.
Guitarist Lachlan quipped that they looked Filipino with their Asian features.
“Oh right. Kamusta, mga lods?” he said in Filipino. “Pinoy pride! If I could be a Filipino, I’m passing, right?”
“We kind of look a bit Filipino. We kind of. We kind of,” he added.
Despite their packed schedule, with a show in Indonesia the day before, the band enjoyed performing in Manila.
“Look, we’ve been having a very good day even though we had no sleep whatsoever or like i’m on a dream or like hallucinating,” Lachlan said as they stage their next set with “Paranoia Paradise,” “Wurl,” “Italo Disco,” and “Weekend.”
“I made it. I love you, Manila!” Lachlan added.
The crowd's energy impressed the band.
“That’s the Manila crowd that I remember. By the way, I’m loving the energy. You guys are the best. I’m loving your energy,” Sean said.
As the show neared its end, Last Dinosaurs played crowd favorites like "Auto Sabotage," "Apollo," "Bass God," and "Zoom."
“I love the crowd right here. They are making Filipino legends,” Lachlan said.
They also promised to return to the Philippines on their next show with their song “Eleven.”
“Thank you so much for making time extra special. We love you so much. We’ll be in the Philippines soon. I’ll be coming, we’ll be coming back here again soon. See you guys! We love you!” Sean said.
For their encore, the band returned to the stage to play “Stream” and officially closed with “Andy”
“Thank you, Manila! We love you!” Sean said.
The Manila show was the final stop of Last Dinosaurs’ 2024 Asia tour, made possible by local concert organizer PULP Live World.
