Robbie Jaworski is being tagged as one of the next big names in showbiz, and it isn't hard to see why. Between his good looks and a steadily growing list of projects, the young Kapamilya has barely had time to slow down.
He grew up in a family with deep roots in entertainment, politics, and sports, but for now, his focus is squarely on building a career in showbiz. Robbie was introduced as one of the new-gen MYX VJs before taking on other hosting work, including YSpeak 2.0, along with acting projects such as The Alibi and The Loyalty Game.
Robbie is the son of Pasig City Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski and actress-equestrian Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski. He is also the grandson of basketball legend and former senator Robert Jaworski.
"I'd say right now, of course, as a Star Magic artist, I feel most at home with entertainment. I was raised in sports and politics. I was not raised in entertainment. So, siguro pagdating sa kung ano ang mas kabisado ko, siguro mas kabisado ko 'yung sports and politics,” he said during a Star Magic Spotlight event.
“But being in the showbiz industry the last two years, becoming three now, mas nakaka-kabisado ko na rin 'yung mundo ng showbiz, and I'm enjoying the journey so far, for sure," he added.
Many assume Robbie practically grew up on set because of his mother, but he clarified that what he actually saw of her work was the philanthropy side – events for Anak TV, WWF, and Gawad Kalinga. He would tag along with her at a talent search for kids, though he mostly stayed on the sidelines and played.
"'Yung ginagawa ko doon dati ay naglalaro ako ng patintero kasama ng mga contestants. Kasi baka 4 years, 3 years older lang ako sa kanila. So I enjoyed it, pero hanggang doon lang ako medyo na-immerse sa entertainment and showbiz," he said.
Robbie also shared that it was only after signing with ABS-CBN's talent management arm that he opened up his life to the public.
"I mean, I was private on my social media accounts until I signed with Star Magic. So I got to experience also 'yung buhay ng private citizen, hindi katulad ng mga magulang ko na medyo kilala sila. And then, siyempre, sports. I played sports my whole life up until high school. And then, politics, I grew up seeing my grandparents and my parents," he shared.
Asked why his exposure to his mother's showbiz career was so limited, he explained: "Hindi ko naman masyadong nakikita 'yung Mommy ko sa showbiz kasi when I was born, hindi na siya masyadong active. So, that was what I was exposed to the most," he added.
When PUSH ABS-CBN asked him about the lessons from his parents that he carries into everyday life, Robbie turned to his faith.
"Okay, disclaimer lang, hindi ako perfect. Hindi ko naman ito laging susundan nang 100%. Pero lagi nilang pinapaalala sa akin, kung sakaling may haharapin akong kahirapan or adversity or challenge sa buhay, kung may mga bagay na hindi ko masyadong kabisado or alam, na hindi ako masyadong kampante and may work, huwag ko na lang daw kalimutan magdasal," he said.
"So, when times get hard, isipin ko na lang si God at si Jesus. And more often than not, nagbibigay siya ng kapayapaan sa puso ko – which gives me the room and the calm to be able to think and make the next decisions. Totoo 'yon, guys, ah. Hindi ako perfect, pero I try my best to think about, you know, Jesus, what would He do in this situation," he added.
Robbie said he has also learned to accept that some things are simply beyond him. Rather than lose sleep over them, he chooses to hand them over.
"Kasi minsan may sitwasyon na nahaharap sa 'yo na kung gagawin mo 'to, may tama pero may mawawala. Kung gagawin mo 'to, may tama rin, may mawawala rin. So, sometimes you never know. So, usually when it comes to those things, I just lift my worries," he said.
