Actress Matet de Leon broke her silence as she explained her post that went viral on social media. In an interview with Boy Abunda on Fast Talk earlier this week, the celebrity daughter asked fans of her late mother, Nora Aunor, to respect her and her siblings as they’re still grieving over the loss of their mother.

Matet previously posted a photo of herself and her three siblings, who were also adopted by the late National Artist.

😎 Mukha ba kaming may pake?😂😂😂” Matet previously posted.

When asked what that was all about, Matet clarified that it was for the bashers who kept pushing that they were just after the inheritance. This comes after their brother, Ian de Leon–– the biological son of Nora with actor Christopher de Leon–– announced his status as the sole legal heir of Nora.

She admitted how hurtful the comments were and that she was affected by them as she maintained that they’re grateful for everything Nora has done for them.

“We’re grateful to her. I’m here talking to you, Tito Boy, because of my mom. I am Matet because of my mother, so I’m grateful,” she expressed.

Matet then expressed how they’re still grieving over the loss of their mother a year after she passed away. She asserted that they’re not thinking about the inheritance and aren’t claiming anything.

“Please respect us, not just me but my brother too. You think mommy will be happy kung buhay siya na nalalaan niya na sinasabi niyo yan,” she added.

In the same interview, she reiterated that she isn’t fighting with Ian but believes it’s more of a “misunderstanding” between them. She added that there is no doubt that he is the sole legal heir and everyone knows it already.

“Hindi ko po masabing away but misunderstanding,” she clarified.

Ian has yet to comment as of this writing.
