Pambansang Dyosa Anne Curtis lent her voice to a special performance alongside Chito Miranda during the intimate 41st birthday celebration of Angel Locsin.
On April 30, Chito shared a video online of how he hyped the guests along with Anne as they sang the fan-favorite Parokya ni Edgar track “Halaga”. Together with the clip, he reflected on a friendship that has spanned over two decades, fondly recalling how the It’s Showtime host has always been part of his inner circle.
“Ever since, 'Pare' yung tawag ko sa kanya kasi parang siyang 'one of the boys' and ang gaan-gaan niya lang kasama,” he wrote.
He went on to reminisce about their younger years, when bonding meant long nights spent together with their “Tuesday group”.
“Dati, madalas kami tumambay. May parang group kasi kami...yung Tuesday Group. Wala lang...magkikita-kita lang tapos tatambay lang sa bar or sa bahay ng friends namin hanggang madaling araw.
“Nung tumanda na kami, syempre di na masyado. Once every few years nalang siguro kami magkita, pag may mga special occasion (tulad ng recent bday ni Angel), and yung mga usapan namin, tungkol na sa buhay may-asawa at pamilya,” he continued.
Despite the changes, one thing remained constant with Anne, according to Chito, writing, “Pero ang hindi nagbago is kung gaano siya kabait at kung gaano siya sa-simple at down-to-earth.”
The evening also marked a first for Chito’s wife, Neri Naig, who finally met Anne. According to him, he had long spoken about his friend’s kindness, especially knowing that his wife is a fan. However, the experience still exceeded Neri’s expectations.
“Na-amaze pa rin sya kung gaano ka-warm and ka-accommodating si Anne. Perfect nga daw si Anne, sabi ng asawa ko,” he expressed.
“Sabi ng iba, 'never meet your heroes,' but I'm glad Neri met one of hers. Sobrang tuwang-tuwa talaga siya,” Chito maintained.
The warmth of their friendship also resonated with netizens, many of whom took to the comments section to express admiration for their genuine bond.
Neri later shared her own moment from the celebration on Instagram, posting a video of Anne singing Natalie Imbruglia’s hit “Torn,” which sparked a lighthearted exchange between the two in the comments.
“Dapat daw pag pinost, sabihin na magaling daw siyang kumanta 😅 Pero ang ganda naman talaga ng pagkakakanta niya! 👏👏" Neri said, to which Anne replied.
"Thank you @mrsnerimiranda 😂😂 ayan nga ung caption hahahahaha so much fun!" Anne wrote.
Beyond the musical highlights, the celebration gathered several of Angel’s close friends and loved ones, including actress Bubbles Paraiso and her stepson Joaquin Arce, among others.
