Actress Rica Peralejo completed her first marathon at the Tokyo Marathon earlier this month. In an Instagram post, she shared some of her thoughts after completing and conquering 42.195 kilometers.
A full marathon runs for 42.195 kilometers which runners usually prepare for months ahead as it is a strenuous race. Rica has been documenting her fitness and running journey on her social media accounts to the delight of her supportive fans.

Rica ran for a total of 4 hours and 57 minutes and 44 seconds according to the official record she posted–– averaging around 6 minutes and 59 seconds per kilometer. Rica added how she didn’t have any cramping during the race as well which she credited to her proper nutrition.
Despite this, she maintained how humbling the experience has been for her. She recalled the guiding words of her running coach as she went on with the marathon.
“I now understand why marathons are humbling. The distance is so long that so many things can happen along the way. “Nothing is guaranteed,” as @ken_mendola would say. I can do all I can but once the race begins I am at the mercy of the uncontrollable. And I have to keep doing my best even in the event that things don’t do my way,” she wrote.
Rica maintained that it was a privilege for her to run a marathon and expressed her gratitude to her team, who have been guiding her all throughout her preparations for the race.
“I am so well today, nothing hurts. Only my wallet because I keep buying rice balls days leading up to race day 🤣 but again and again, thank you for your wisdom. Don’t know what would’ve happened to me had I not spoken with u guys before attempting the Tokyo marathon,” she said.
Rica ended her post by assuring everyone who wants to do a marathon that they can also do it as she was able to do so.
“To all of you who dream of running one, if nakaya ko, kaya niyo,” she ended.
